The Utility Operator is responsible for assisting plant and pit operations run smoothly. This can include daily maintenance and safe operation of heavy equipment to produce aggregate, assisting at different plant locations to keep plant running, or simply helping out managers as needed.

Responsible for:

  • Responsible for safe production of aggregate.
  • Mobilizes/Demobilize aggregate processing plants.
  • Maintains orderliness, cleanliness, and safety at aggregate processing plant and surrounding work area.
  • Assists with aggregate processing plant maintenance and repair including but not limited to shoveling, changing out screens, rollers, and liners.
  • Reports to Area Manager when equipment needs maintenance and repair.
  • Works closely with other crew members to coordinate work and ensure safety.
  • Loads bins, hoppers, aggregate trucks, and other equipment.
  • Operates other equipment when needed (Dozer, Backhoe, Scraper, Skid Steer, Loader).
  • Must be a team player and follow directions, and guidance from management.
  • Travel to plant/pit locations as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred:

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); or
  • One to three months related experience and/or training; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Previous experience running a loader or conveyers
  • Previous experience working with and around tractor-trailers, side dumps, etc.
  • Read and understand documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Physical requirements:

  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, lift, stoop, crouch, crawl, stretch, sit, reach, and grasp.
  • Lift up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Extended work hours
  • Work in high places (approximately 50 feet in the air)
  • Work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Work in a moderate noise environment.
