Position Overview

The Project Support Specialist I coordinates key work management tasks related to capital construction projects, including cost-recoverable programs, from project initiation through financial close-out.

This role provides critical administrative and system support to ensure accurate project setup, asset tracking, and contractor coordination. The position serves as a liaison between pipeline contractors and Southern Company Gas (SCG) for system and work management matters.

This is an excellent opportunity for early-career professionals seeking experience in project coordination within a utility or construction environment.


Key Responsibilities

Project & Work Management Support

  • Coordinate work management activities for capital construction projects
  • Support cost-recoverable programs from initiation through financial close-out
  • Create and maintain project records in SCG ARM
  • Process asset allocation and booking in PowerPlan
  • Create non-new business work requests
  • Create and validate spot contracts

System & Financial Coordination

  • Ensure accurate project setup and system maintenance
  • Track project financials and assist with close-out activities
  • Maintain accurate documentation within internal systems

Contractor & Stakeholder Liaison

  • Serve as liaison between pipeline contractors and Southern Company Gas
  • Support resolution of system and work management issues
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and external contractors

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or related field
  • 0โ€“5 years of relevant experience
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in project coordination or support roles
  • Experience in utility, construction, or infrastructure environments
  • Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project)
