Mechanical Engineer – Laser Shaft Alignment & Vibration Analyst

About ROTATEK

ROTATEK is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our Rotating Equipment Specialist team, supporting industrial clients with vibration analysis, precision alignment, and field balancing services.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on diagnosing and correcting rotating equipment issues in manufacturing, marine, energy, and heavy industrial environments. The position combines advanced condition monitoring technology, field diagnostics, and technical reporting.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform vibration data collection and analysis on rotating equipment
  • Diagnose mechanical faults including imbalance, misalignment, looseness, resonance, and bearing defects
  • Conduct precision laser alignment on pumps, motors, turbines, gearboxes, and other critical machinery
  • Perform in-place dynamic balancing of rotating assemblies
  • Provide corrective recommendations to improve reliability and performance
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and present findings to clients

Equipment & Technologies Used

  • Vibration data collectors and analysis software

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME)
  • 5+ years of experience in vibration analysis, alignment, or rotating equipment reliability
  • Strong understanding of rotating equipment fundamentals
  • Experience interpreting vibration spectra and time waveform data
  • Willingness to travel (typically 25%–60%)
  • Valid driver’s license with safe driving record
  • Ability to pass drug screening
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs

Preferred Certifications & Experience

  • Vibration Analysis Certification (Category I, II, or III)
  • Experience performing field balancing
  • Experience with laser alignment systems
  • Reliability or condition monitoring experience
  • Marine, turbine, or industrial plant experience
