Job Summary:

The Service Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining semi-trailers and related equipment to ensure safe, reliable operation. This role supports customers and internal teams by delivering timely, high-quality mechanical, electrical, and structural repairs, while maintaining accurate service documentation and upholding company standards for safety and workmanship.

*Safety bonuses are available immediately.

*Productivity and efficiency bonuses begin after 90 days.


Requirements:

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and diagnose trailer systems to identify mechanical, structural, suspension, brake, and electrical repair needs.
  • Perform service, repair, and replacement of trailer brake and suspension systems, ensuring safe and reliable operation.
  • Troubleshoot and repair 12VDC electrical systems, including lighting and wiring components.
  • Execute MIG welding and metal fabrication repairs to trailer frames and structural components as required.
  • Complete routine preventative maintenance and install trailer components or accessories as needed.
  • Accurately document work performed by completing service records, repair orders, and parts usage within company systems.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment and operate shop tools and equipment in accordance with safety standards.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude, with the ability to diagnose and repair issues across a range of trailer types and configurations.
  • Understanding of hydraulic systems, commonly used in dump trailers, tilt decks, and utility equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, service manuals, and parts schematics.
  • Detail-oriented and committed to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to workplace safety.
  • Basic computer literacy.


Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds unassisted on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in physically demanding positions for extended periods.


Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience as a mechanical or service technician, preferably within the trailer, heavy equipment, or automotive industries.
