As of Jun 15, 2026, the average hourly pay for pier driver in the United States is $22.45, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $20.19 and $23.56 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is the difference between Pier Driver vs Dock Worker?

AspectPier DriverDock Worker
CredentialsDriver's license, CDL often preferredNo specific license required, physical fitness important
Work EnvironmentOutdoor, near water, operating vehicles on piersIndoor/outdoor, handling cargo and equipment at docks
Industry UsageMaritime, shipping, logisticsShipping, freight, logistics
Job FocusTransporting cargo via vehicles on piersLoading/unloading cargo from ships

While both Pier Drivers and Dock Workers operate in maritime logistics, Pier Drivers primarily focus on transporting cargo using vehicles on piers, requiring a driver's license or CDL. Dock Workers handle cargo directly, often without driving, and focus on loading and unloading ships. Both roles are essential in shipping operations but differ in responsibilities and credentials.

What company in Texas is paying truckers $14000 a week?

Pier drivers and other truck drivers can earn high weekly wages through specialized hauling, overtime, and experience. While some companies may offer high pay for long-haul or hazardous material routes, earning $14,000 a week is uncommon and typically involves additional bonuses or incentives. It is important to verify pay rates directly with employers and consider factors like experience, route type, and certifications.

What jobs pay 2000 a day?

Pier drivers typically do not earn $2000 a day; such high daily earnings are more common in specialized or high-risk roles like certain offshore or industrial jobs, or in executive positions. Most jobs paying this amount require advanced skills, certifications, or significant experience, often involving long hours or hazardous environments.

What job makes $10,000 a month without a degree?

A pier driver can potentially earn $10,000 a month through overtime, high-volume cargo handling, or working in busy ports with specialized skills. These roles often require physical strength, experience, and knowledge of safety protocols but typically do not require a college degree. Earnings vary based on location, employer, and experience.

What is the easiest trucking company to get hired?

Pier driver positions are often available at companies that prioritize entry-level hiring and provide on-the-job training. Companies with a high volume of dock work and those that do not require extensive experience or specialized certifications tend to have easier hiring processes.
