Position Description: Warehouse / Material Handling (MPH) Manufacturing Engineer
The Warehouse / Material Handling Manufacturing Engineer supports warehouse and material flow operations across the manufacturing facility. This role focuses on improving material movement, warehouse layout, storage systems, and replenishment strategies to ensure efficient production support and reliable inventory availability.
The engineer works closely with logistics, production, planning, procurement, and quality teams to optimize material flow from receiving through production and shipping.
Requirements
Primary Duties:
  • Design and optimize warehouse layouts, storage systems, and rack configurations to improve space utilization and material accessibility.
  • Improve material flow between receiving, warehouse storage, production lines, and shipping.
  • Develop and maintain standard material handling processes including receiving, put-away, picking, kitting, replenishment, and shipping.
  • Implement line-side material presentation strategies to support efficient production operations.
  • Identify and eliminate inefficiencies in warehouse processes, picking methods, and internal logistics workflows.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing material travel distance, improving pick accuracy, and optimizing warehouse throughput.
  • Apply Lean tools such as 5S, Kaizen, and value-stream mapping to warehouse and material handling operations.
  • Collaborate with materials and planning teams to resolve inventory discrepancies, shortages, and replenishment delays.
  • Support ERP/MRP system accuracy, including location control, part classification, and warehouse transactions.
  • Analyze material demand patterns and storage requirements to improve stocking strategies and warehouse capacity planning.
  • Evaluate and implement material handling equipment including racks, carts, pallet flow systems, conveyors, and kitting solutions.
  • Develop efficient kitting and staging processes to support assembly operations.
  • Improve pallet storage density and warehouse capacity utilization.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for warehouse operations.
  • Create visual standards, process documentation, and training materials for warehouse personnel.
  • Standardize location management and labeling systems to improve material traceability.
  • Ensure warehouse processes follow internal safety standards and regulatory guidelines.
  • Improve ergonomic practices related to material handling, lifting, and equipment usage.
  • Support implementation of safe material handling practices and warehouse safety initiatives.

Experience & Skills:
  • Experience in warehouse operations, logistics, or material handling engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management, warehouse layout design, and material flow optimization.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and warehouse location management.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement tools.
  • Experience with warehouse storage systems, pallet racking, and material handling equipment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work directly with warehouse teams and production personnel to implement improvements.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
