Job description

Videographer / Photographer / Editor — Full-Time Contractor

Location: Houston, TX

Company: Social Habit Marketing

Compensation: $45,000–$60,000 per year, based on experience

Job Type: Full-Time Contractor

Work Location: Hybrid — Houston, TX

About Social Habit Marketing

Social Habit Marketing is a Houston-based digital marketing agency that helps businesses grow through professional content, digital advertising, social media, websites, and other digital marketing services.

We work with clients across a variety of industries and produce photo and video content designed for social media, advertising, websites, email campaigns, and other digital platforms.

We’re looking for a skilled Videographer / Photographer / Editor to join our production team and take ownership of both capturing and editing high-quality visual content for our clients.

This is a hands-on production role focused specifically on photography, videography, and post-production.

What You’ll Do
  • Travel to client locations throughout the Greater Houston area for scheduled photo and video shoots.
  • Capture professional photo and video content showcasing businesses, products, services, employees, customers, and lifestyle environments.
  • Produce content for social media, Meta and Google advertising, websites, email campaigns, and other digital platforms.
  • Create polished short-form video content for platforms including Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and paid social advertising.
  • Direct clients, employees, models, and other subjects during shoots to produce natural and professional content.
  • Make creative decisions regarding lighting, framing, composition, camera movement, audio, and shot selection.
  • Edit video content from raw footage through final delivery.
  • Edit and retouch photography for consistent exposure, color, composition, and overall quality.
  • Perform color correction and color grading for both photo and video.
  • Handle audio synchronization, music selection, captions, sound design, transitions, and basic motion graphics when appropriate.
  • Adapt editing styles to match different clients, brands, industries, and platforms.
  • Collaborate with account managers, designers, and strategists to execute established creative concepts and content plans.
  • Manage multiple shoots and editing projects simultaneously while meeting production deadlines.
  • Maintain organized project files, raw footage, photography, exports, and backups.

What We’re Looking For
  • Professional experience in videography and photography.
  • Strong professional video and photo editing skills.
  • A portfolio demonstrating high-quality photography, videography, and editing work.
  • Strong understanding of camera settings, lenses, exposure, lighting, composition, framing, and audio.
  • Experience producing short-form, social-first video content.
  • Understanding of pacing, hooks, storytelling, and visual techniques that work effectively across digital and social platforms.
  • Ability to confidently direct people who may have little or no experience being on camera.
  • Strong attention to detail and visual consistency.
  • Ability to produce high-quality work independently without requiring extensive creative direction.
  • Reliable, punctual, organized, and able to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable receiving feedback and making revisions.
  • Ability to manage several projects at different stages of production simultaneously.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel to client locations throughout the Greater Houston area.

Software Experience

Candidates should be proficient with professional editing software such as:

  • Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Adobe Lightroom
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Adobe After Effects
  • DaVinci Resolve
  • Final Cut Pro

You do not need to use every program listed above, but you should be highly proficient with the tools required to professionally produce and edit photo and video content.

Equipment

Social Habit Marketing has photography, videography, lighting, audio, and other production equipment available for use when needed.

Candidates may also use their own preferred equipment when appropriate.

You should be comfortable working with professional production equipment and able to determine what gear is needed for different types of shoots. Access to your own equipment is a plus, but you are not expected to personally own every piece of equipment required for the role.

Candidates should have access to a computer capable of professional photo and video editing and the software necessary to complete assigned post-production work.

Workload & Availability

This is a full-time contractor position.

Workload is production-driven rather than based on a fixed number of hours each week. Responsibilities will fluctuate based on scheduled client shoots, editing assignments, required content-piece output, project deadlines, and overall production needs.

Candidates must maintain sufficient weekday availability to accommodate client shoots throughout the Greater Houston area and consistently complete assigned production work by established deadlines.

Editing and post-production work may generally be completed remotely, while photography and videography will require regular on-location work throughout Houston.

What Success Looks Like

Someone successful in this role will:

  • Arrive prepared and on time for scheduled shoots.
  • Consistently capture technically sound, usable photo and video content.
  • Understand what needs to be captured without requiring extensive direction on every shot.
  • Make clients and subjects feel comfortable and confident on camera.
  • Capture enough strong material during each shoot to fulfill the planned content output.
  • Deliver polished edits that match the client's brand and intended platform.
  • Complete assigned content and revisions on schedule.
  • Maintain organized footage, project files, and final assets.
  • Produce consistently high-quality work across multiple clients and industries.
  • Take ownership of projects from production through final edited deliverables.

This Role Is a Good Fit If You...

Enjoy being behind the camera and actively producing creative work.

You should be comfortable moving between client shoots and post-production throughout the week. You understand both the creative and technical sides of photography and videography, while recognizing that marketing content needs to communicate effectively and be produced consistently.

You should be able to walk into a client location, understand the production goals, confidently direct the shoot, capture strong material, and turn that material into polished finished content.

How to Apply

Please send the following to operations@socialhabitmarketing.com:

  • Your resume
  • Photography portfolio
  • Videography and/or editing reel
  • A brief introduction
  • Your compensation expectations

For portfolio examples involving collaborative productions, please clearly identify what you personally contributed to the project, such as photography, camera operation, lighting, directing, video editing, photo editing, color grading, motion graphics, or full production.
