Position Summary: The Universal Banker accurately processes customer transactions on the teller line and provides quality customer service in a friendly, professional, and timely manner. This position determines customers' needs and meets their expectations by recommending beneficial products and referring them to partner departments when appropriate. The Universal Banker ensures positive interactions with existing and prospective customers-both over the phone and in person-with a focus on acquiring and expanding loyal relationships. In addition, the role includes assisting customers with opening new personal and business products and services while working to achieve targeted levels for product sales, service behaviors, and referral goals.
Job Responsibilities: The Universal Banker is responsible for delivering exceptional service by adhering to all established bank policies and procedures while maintaining a strong working knowledge of Capitol Bank's products and services to effectively crosssell and support customer needs. This role performs a wide range of transactionrelated duties, including processing deposits and withdrawals, cashing checks, issuing official checks, handling various payments, managing coin orders and bankcard cash advances, and providing account information as requested. The Universal Banker ensures accuracy through daily cashdrawer balancing and meets established standards for overages and shortages. They are accountable for achieving targeted goals related to product sales, service behaviors, and referral activity, as well as opening, updating, and maintaining customer accounts. This position requires prompt, professional handling of customer inquiries and ongoing relationship development through regular communication, business visits, and participation in community or customerfocused events. Additional responsibilities may be assigned to support the overall needs of the branch and the Bank.

Skillset & Experience:

  • Effective communication when working with customers and/or employees
  • Be involved in developing solutions to meet the needs of the customer and/or employees
  • Flexibility to meet changing workload; highly self-motivated
  • Be a team player and be respectful to all staff, customers, and prospects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other applicable software.
  • Minimum of 1 year in customer service. Previous banking experience preferred.
  • Applicable college degree or equivalent work experience.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to sit for periods greater than 45 minutes at a time.
  • Must be able to stand for periods greater than 30 minutes at a time.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to use computer monitors for periods greater than 45 minutes at a time.
  • Must be able to perform basic typing functions.
