Job description


The Department of Philosophy at Davidson College invites applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor of Philosophy to begin July 1, 2027. Area of Specialization: Any area within value theory, broadly construed. Area of Competence: Open, with some preference for candidates who complement teaching strengths of the department.
We seek candidates who are highly committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching and scholarly research. A willingness and ability to contribute to interdisciplinary programs such as Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE), Writing 101, or the Humanities Program are desirable. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in philosophy before the start of the appointment.
Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV, writing sample, teaching and research statement, and contact information for three references who have agreed to provide letters of recommendation. At least one of the letters should address the applicant's teaching specifically. Materials should be submitted online at https://employment.davidson.edu.
