Scope of Position
Lewis and Clark Community College is currently seeking an Adjunct, Philosophy to work on the Godfrey, IL campus. The employee will teach courses as requested by the Program Coordinator or the Academic Dean. LC's Mission is to empower people by raising aspirations and fostering achievement through dynamic, compassionate and responsible learning experiences. Key Measurable Expectations (KMEs)
  • Teach assigned Philosophy courses;
  • Follow college and department policies;
  • Create, administer, and grade assignments of LC students;
  • Calculate and submit grades for students;
  • Collaborate with Professors on coursework;
  • Remain current on subject matter;
  • Provide support and guidance for students as needed.

Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
  • Masters degree in Philosophy from an accredited institution required;
  • Excellent verbal and oral communication skills;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Community College teaching experience;
  • Experience using Blackboard Ultra or other learning management systems.

For Academic Year 2025-2026, the pay rate for adjunct faculty is $838 per lecture-equivalent hour.
