The Senior Vice President, Regional Retail Production Leader is an executive leadership role responsible for driving profitable retail mortgage production across a defined Southeast regional footprint. This position is accountable for funded volume growth, margin protection, Loan Officer (LO) recruiting and retention, leadership effectiveness, and adherence to BankSouth Mortgage’s operational, regulatory, and cultural standards.

The role is intentionally structured to reward measurable revenue creation, recruiting impact, and sustainable performance, while maintaining strong risk management, compliance discipline, and cultural alignment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Production Leadership & Financial Performance

  • Develop and execute regional retail production strategies aligned with BankSouth Mortgage’s growth, profitability, and enterprise objectives
  • Drive year-over-year funded volume growth while maintaining disciplined pricing, margin integrity, and pull-through performance
  • Maintain accountability for regional P&L drivers, including volume, margins, productivity, cost containment, and revenue-producing behaviors
  • Establish, monitor, and hold leaders accountable for branch and individual business plans, sales goals, and key performance indicators
  • Partner closely with Executive Leaders, Operations, Accounting, and Secondary to ensure production decisions support enterprise profitability and risk tolerance

Recruiting & Market Expansion

  • Serve as the senior executive owner of the regional loan officer recruiting strategy, aligned with BankSouth Mortgage’s growth, risk profile, and culture
  • Personally recruit, onboard, and integrate high-performing producing Loan Officers and branch leadership
  • Collaborate with Business Development to expand referral relationships, brand presence, and market share across target markets
  • Support growth initiatives through research, market analysis, and recommendations for expansion and lead generation opportunities
  • Represent BankSouth Mortgage in the marketplace through industry involvement, professional associations, and community engagement

Talent Management & Retention

  • Lead, coach, and develop regional sales leadership and Loan Officer teams through consistent performance management and one-on-one coaching
  • Ensure successful onboarding and early productivity of new production hires, including training on systems, products, compliance standards, and sales execution
  • Maintain strong retention of top-performing Loan Officers through engagement, clarity of expectations, and accountability
  • Identify, develop, and succession-plan future production leaders
  • Address underperformance promptly and consistently in partnership with HR and executive leadership

Leadership, Culture & Governance

  • Model BankSouth Mortgage’s values, ethical standards, and leadership expectations across all regional operations
  • Foster a high-performance culture grounded in trust, transparency, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Actively contribute to enterprise strategic initiatives, philanthropic efforts, and company-sponsored sales and leadership programs
  • Achieve strong leadership effectiveness and engagement scores through employee feedback and continuous improvement
  • Serve as a visible and respected leader representing BankSouth Mortgage within the industry

Operational, Compliance & Risk Alignment

  • Ensure regional adherence to all applicable federal, state, investor, and agency regulations, including CFPB, FHA, VA, USDA, and GSE guidelines
  • Partner with Compliance, Quality Control, and Operations teams to proactively identify and mitigate operational and regulatory risk
  • Review and provide guidance on complex loan scenarios and exceptions to ensure adherence to underwriting, investor, and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure consistent adoption and effective use of BankSouth Mortgage’s LOS, POS, CRM, and related technologies
  • Maintain disciplined pipeline management to ensure loans close on time and in accordance with BankSouth Mortgage policies and procedures

Reporting & Analytics

  • Own and drive regional scorecard performance, including volume, margins, recruiting, retention, operational effectiveness, and technology adoption
  • Leverage data analytics and reporting tools (e.g., DOMO and internal dashboards) to inform performance management, forecasting, and strategic decision-making
  • Provide regular performance updates, forecasts, trend analysis, and strategic insights to executive leadership

Compliance

  • Responsible for learning, understanding and practicing required fraud prevention practice and OFAC compliance requirements
  • Ensure that BankSouth Mortgage adheres to all applicable federal and state regulations
  • Maintain confidentiality of all customer files & associated information
  • Assist examiners and auditors by providing required documentation
  • Must meet all applicable state and federal licensing requirements, including NMLS eligibility where required
  • Subject to background check, credit review, and regulatory screening consistent with BankSouth policy
  • Must maintain compliance with all continuing education and licensing standards

Performance Management

Performance will be evaluated using a balanced scorecard that may include:

  • Funded loan volume growth
  • Net margin performance and improvement
  • Retention of top-performing producers
  • Net recruiting gains of producing LOs
  • Technology adoption and operational discipline
  • Leadership effectiveness and employee engagement metrics
  • CEO discretionary evaluation

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in retail mortgage banking
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful external/outside retail mortgage origination experience with an emphasis on self-sourced business
  • Proven success leading large, multi-market sales organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, onboard, and retain top-producing LOs
  • Strong understanding of mortgage economics, pricing, margin management, and P&L drivers
  • Advanced financial and analytical acumen
  • Be willing to sacrifice personal gain for the good of the organization
  • Thorough knowledge of mortgage underwriting, processing, closing and post-closing processes
  • Possess a working knowledge of all lending programs available through BankSouth Mortgage
  • Thorough understanding of all facets of a real estate transaction; remain customer service driven; responsive to client issues and concerns, and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications

  • Executive-level regional or divisional mortgage leadership experience
  • Established market presence and recruiting network in the Southeast
  • Experience leading through varying market cycles
  • Demonstrated success driving technology adoption and operational consistency
