Job description

This Security Guard position secures, protects and safeguards the venue facilities, equipment and grounds - guarding against and reacting to situations involving potential for fire, theft, vandalism and or other causes. Coordinate foot-traffic flow of patrons and visitors to the Santander Arena. Monitors fire panel for Complex at all times. 

This role pays an hourly rate of $13.00-$15.50.

Santander Arena, located in downtown Reading, Pennsylvania, is a versatile venue that serves as the home arena for the Reading Royals, the ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers. The Santander Arena has hosted an array of live events including concerts, Disney on Ice, and other family friendly events attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors annually. 


  • Conduct "rounds" inside and outside of Venue buildings, observing and reacting to irregularities such as prowlers, fire or potential causes of fire, or other potential causes of loss or damage to property.
  • Involve other safety, fire and city patrol officials as situation warrants.
  • Prepare associated reports and involve others as situation merits.
  • Monitors fire panel for complex at all times.
  • During facility events, directs and controls the flow of guests, responding to questions, providing direction and reacting to situations requiring support and intervention.
  • Ensure that facility and grounds lights are set (on/off) as necessary and that facility doors and property gates are properly secured.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned. 

  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule including days, nights, weekends and holidays. 
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. 
  • Up to 1 year of related experience. 
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with 2 way radios.

  • Teamwork oriented and positive attitude to welcome guests.
