Public Works Director- DIRECT HIRE POSITION!!!!
Position Summary
The Public Works Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing the City’s public works operations, including streets, stormwater, buildings, grounds, and equipment services. This role ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulations while supporting the City Manager and serving the community.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations of public works, including streets, stormwater, cemetery, and building & grounds maintenance
  • Supervise staff and coordinate work across departments and contractors
  • Plan and manage infrastructure projects and long-term service needs
  • Advise the City Manager on projects, improvements, and operational changes
  • Review construction plans and ensure compliance with regulations
  • Manage departmental budget, expenditures, and capital improvement planning
  • Handle citizen concerns, service requests, and community relations
  • Prepare reports and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements
  • Oversee contracts, inspections, and project progress
  • Hire, train, evaluate, and support department staff
Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of public works operations, construction, and maintenance
  • Understanding of local, state, and federal regulations
  • Experience with budgeting, personnel management, and project management
