Posting Number A0160P Position Summary
La Salle University's Environmental Science Program has an need for highly qualified adjunct faculty to teach a course in Fall 24 semester based on using the ArcGIS software in environmental science applications. The course description is the following:
ENV 310 Introduction to Geographic Information Systems
Provides an overview of the basic concepts and uses of Geographic Information System (GIS) technology. ArcGIS provides a means to explore data on a spatial level and communicate this information. Students explore GIS tools and learn to manipulate, analyze, visualize, and illustrate geographic data. Students examine relationships, trends and patterns using GIS technology. This course is structured to be a hands-on laboratory that covers both conceptual and technical topics.

This course is offered in person, and may be scheduled in the daytime or evening depending on student and instructor availability.

Essential Duties
Teach assigned course(s).
Prepare course materials consistent with departmental and course learning objectives.
Provide timely grading and feedback to students.
Provide guidance and support to students.
Required Qualifications
  • Masters degree in environmental science or related field (chemistry, biology, public health, etc.).
  • Practical experience with ArcGIS software
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience teaching at the college level.
  • Willingness to be flexible in class scheduling.
  • Knowledge and commitment to the mission of La Salle University.
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours
Some classes offered may be in the evenings or online.

This is a pooled position from which Adjunct Instructors will be selected when/if a need arises in the program.
