Job description

As the largest provider of nonpublic special education schools in Maryland, Sheppard Pratt operates Type I, Type II, and residential schools across the state. What to expect.

You will coordinate assigned school curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices under the direction of senior school leadership. This role involves ensuring compliance with COMAR regulations, the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), as well as the implementation of state and local school system curriculum and evidence-based practices in assessment and instruction. 

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Assisting teachers in implementing curriculum that meets the diverse needs of all students and include on-going evaluative measures.
  • Supporting teachers in selection of informal and formal assessments and conducting formal assessments when appropriate.
  • Providing constructive feedback and professional development opportunities to teachers and other staff.
  • Ensuring use of evidence-based instruction and student engagement strategies in all classrooms.

    The pay range for this position is $56,160 minimum - $95,513 maximum.  Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors, including but not limited to, years and level of related experience.

    What we need from you.

    • A master’s degree in special education.
    • Must possess or demonstrate eligibility to apply within 30 days of start date, MSDE Professional License (PL) in secondary education or special education.
    • 4 years of related experience.
