Job description

Responsibilities
The Supervisor, Pharmacy Shipping is responsible for overseeing all outbound logistics and delivery operations within a closed-door pharmacy. This role ensures that medications and supplies are packaged, labeled, and shipped accurately and on time to healthcare facilities, while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and internal quality protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Shipping Operations Management:
    • Lead daily shipping activities including order staging, packaging, labeling, and dispatch.
    • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of medications to partner facilities such as nursing homes, assisted living centers, and correctional institutions.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Supervise shipping staff including drivers, packers, and logistics coordinators.
    • Provide training, scheduling, and performance feedback to maintain a high-functioning team.
  • Compliance & Safety:
    • Ensure all shipments comply with pharmacy regulations, including DEA and state board requirements.
    • Maintain proper documentation and chain-of-custody for controlled substances.
  • Process Optimization:
    • Monitor KPIs such as delivery accuracy, turnaround time, and customer satisfaction.
    • Identify and implement improvements in workflow, routing, and packaging efficiency.
  • Inventory Coordination:
    • Collaborate with inventory and production teams to ensure availability of products for shipment.
    • Prevent shipping delays due to stockouts or miscommunication.
  • Technology & Systems:
    • Utilize pharmacy management and logistics software to track shipments and manage workflow.
    • Ensure accurate data entry and reporting for audits and compliance reviews.
  • Customer Service & Communication:
  • Serve as point of contact for delivery-related inquiries from client facilities.
  • Resolve issues promptly and professionally to maintain strong client relationships.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in shipping/logistics, preferably in a healthcare or pharmacy setting
  • Prior experience managing teams and coordinating delivery operations
  • Familiarity with pharmacy regulations and handling of controlled substances
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency in logistics software and routing tools (e.g., FrameworkLTC, Roadnet, or similar)
