Job description

Pharmacy Inventory Technician

Kalamazoo Long Term Care Pharmacy — Kalamazoo, MI Job Type: Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM Pay: $17–$20 per hour

About the Role

Kalamazoo Long Term Care Pharmacy is looking for a detail-oriented Pharmacy Inventory Technician to join our team. In this role, you'll play a critical part in maintaining efficient inventory management, waste auditing, and waste management processes within the pharmacy. You'll work closely with our pharmacy staff to ensure compliance with waste disposal regulations and support the smooth, accurate flow of inventory that keeps our long-term care facility running well for the residents we serve.

What You'll Do

  • Manage inventory panels for production out-of-stock items.
  • Pull medication for production panels.
  • Assist daily counters, med wheel room staff, and production floor personnel with handling medications as needed.
  • Help put back medications and assist with pulling medications for compliance packaging.
  • Monitor the pharmacy dashboard for all scheduled delivery times, staying aware of deliveries within 20 minutes of their scheduled arrival.
  • Regularly check product shelves for expiring medications.
  • Alert Lead Inventory personnel of any expired medications for proper disposal or removal from inventory.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • Familiarity with basic computer programs, related technology, and pharmacy software/systems.
  • Solid math skills — able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; a basic understanding of algebra is preferred.
  • A team player who is open to feedback, communicates well with others, and contributes to a positive work environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and thoroughness in completing tasks.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Comfortable operating general office equipment such as a telephone and copier.
