How much do pharmacokinetics jobs pay per hour?

As of Jul 16, 2026, the average hourly pay for pharmacokinetics in the United States is $64.77, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $53.61 and $73.32 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the typical responsibilities and workflow of someone working in Pharmacokinetics?

Professionals in Pharmacokinetics are responsible for designing and analyzing studies to understand how drugs are absorbed, distributed, metabolized, and excreted in the body. Their daily activities often include data collection and interpretation, building pharmacokinetic models, preparing reports, and presenting findings to research teams or regulatory authorities. Collaboration with clinical researchers, toxicologists, and regulatory staff is common to ensure comprehensive drug development and approval processes. The role is both analytical and collaborative, offering opportunities to contribute meaningfully to new therapies while developing specialized expertise in a dynamic and innovative field.

What are the 4 types of pharmacokinetics?

Pharmacokinetics involves four main processes: absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion. These processes determine how a drug moves through and is processed by the body, which is essential knowledge for pharmacokinetics professionals. Understanding these helps in optimizing drug dosing and efficacy.

What is a Pharmacokinetics job?

A pharmacokinetics job involves studying how drugs are absorbed, distributed, metabolized, and excreted in the body. Professionals in this field analyze drug concentration data to optimize dosing, improve drug formulations, and ensure safety and efficacy. They work in pharmaceutical companies, regulatory agencies, or research institutions, collaborating with pharmacologists and clinicians. Key responsibilities include designing pharmacokinetic studies, interpreting data, and contributing to drug development and regulatory submissions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Pharmacokinetics position, and why are they important?

To thrive in Pharmacokinetics, a strong background in pharmaceutical sciences, biology, or chemistry—typically at the graduate level—is essential, along with expertise in ADME (Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, and Excretion) processes. Proficiency with specialized software such as WinNonlin, Phoenix, NONMEM, or similar pharmacokinetic modeling tools, as well as familiarity with regulatory guidelines, is highly valued. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, clear communication, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-disciplinary teams help set candidates apart. These skills are crucial for ensuring accurate data analysis, successful drug development, and regulatory compliance in the pharmaceutical industry.

What is the highest paid job in Pharmacology?

In pharmacokinetics, senior roles such as pharmacokinetic modeling directors or principal scientists tend to have the highest salaries, often exceeding six figures annually. These positions typically require advanced degrees, extensive experience, and expertise in data analysis, modeling software, and regulatory environments.

How do you become a pharmacoepidemiologist?

To become a pharmacoepidemiologist, one typically earns a bachelor's degree in pharmacy, epidemiology, public health, or a related field, followed by a master's or doctoral degree in epidemiology, pharmacology, or public health. Gaining experience through internships, research projects, or working in healthcare or research settings is also important, along with developing skills in data analysis and statistical software.

What is a pharmacokinetic job description?

A pharmacokinetic job involves studying how drugs are absorbed, distributed, metabolized, and excreted in the body. Pharmacokinetics professionals analyze data to optimize drug dosing and efficacy, often using modeling software and working in research or clinical settings. Strong analytical skills and knowledge of pharmacology are essential for this role.
