Job description

Career Advancement Program (CAP), Engineering Rotational Program

Rotational Engineering Program within the Manufacturing Engineering Department

Entry level job for the following: Graduates of December 2026

What you get from Subaru: The Career Advancement Program (I.e., CAP Engineers) offers a specialized training program for recent or upcoming college graduates looking for a career in the automotive manufacturing industry. SIA is committed to building future company leadership, and CAP plays a key role in providing program associates training and a companywide overview that is unique for newly hired staff members.

The CAP Engineering rotation at SIA is a direct hire role with an expectation of working some overtime and a few weekends. The program lasts 1 year and will take you through each department during the initial 6-month period. The second 6-month period will have each CAP member working in an assigned section on projects to gain more practical application experience in project management, as a facility, process, quality and/or supply chain engineer. Upon completion of the program, access gained to those associates and managers will give a company level view of how areas interact and their respective roles and responsibilities. Business acumen will also be strengthened via hands-on training with the engineers in each department as well as giving presentations to leadership within the organization.

CAP Engineers report weekly to the Senior Manager of Manufacturing Engineering and other Engineering Managers. They take a personal and hands-on interest in providing the most effective training and development program for each member. Candidates' achievements and accomplishments during each rotation are tracked. At the end of each rotation, the department evaluates the CAP Engineer / Professional.
Upon completion of the 12-month program, CAP associates will be placed into a section assignment. This placement will be based on where the company's needs are while also considering their interests and skill sets.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Interest in working for an Automotive OEM.
  • Soon or recent graduate with Bachelors' degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, Logistics and/or Supply Chain Management
  • You are fully prepared for a career in which you work at a fast pace, work many weekends and holidays (paid 1.5x OT), and juggle many projects and priorities at once.

Desired Qualifications (preferred, not required):

  • Manufacturing, Automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier internship experience
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher - strongly preferred.
  • ASQ/SME/Six Sigma or other applicable professional certificates / exposure
