Job description

Summary:

The R & D Scientist (Emulsions & Suncare Formulations) is responsible for the development, optimization, and commercialization of personal care products with emphasis Emulsions & Suncare care products. This role collaborates closely with multiple internal technical, sales, marketing, finance, operations, engineering, and compliance departments. This position requires a person that works well with general direction and minimal supervision to execute against product development project goals while ensuring adherence to company standards, timelines, and objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Develop robust, high-quality formulations, specifications, and requirements as indicated by a New Product Profile through bench-scale experimentation

· Create, review, and approve technical documents to support product development, including Ingredient Statements, Cost Models, and Raw Material documents

· Partner with cross-functional R&D teams to establish robust manufacturing processes with active participation in pilot plant/scale up activities

· Develop product specifications for new and/or reformulated products to ensure quality and performance standards

· Source, qualify, test, and approve new and/or alternate raw materials

· Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis to assess performance and stability

· Follow standard operating procedures ensure accuracy, safety compliance, and proper documentation

· Optimize formulations to meet cost, processing, and supply chain material requirements

· Manage project deliverables timely and proactively identify risks with contingency plans

· Conduct stability testing, record and analyze results, and summarize conclusions

· Develop prototypes and samples to support customer reviews and bids, as well as requirements for product testing

· Prepare research proposals including analytical, technical, and financial data

· Investigate deviations and help implement the appropriate corrective actions

· Monitor other branded marketed products for changes or improvements that might prompt reformulations

· Collaborate effectively across departments and maintain professional interactions with all internal stakeholders, suppliers, and customers

Education & Experience Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related scientific discipline

· Equivalent combination of education and related experience (up to 10 years) will be considered

· Minimum of 3-5 years of laboratory experience

· Minimum of 3-5 years emulsions formulating experience with an emphasis on suncare is preferred, formulation experience in related personal care products will be considered

· Proficiency with Microsoft applications- Word, Excel, and Power Point

· Ability to apply basic mathematical and statistical concepts, including percentage, ratios, and probability to data analysis

· Ability to manage multiple projects and report progress effectively through the organization

· Solid understanding of product commercialization process
