Contract type: Permanent

Role Description

Shape the future of contracting at a company pioneering dermatology beyond the skin.
Do you thrive at the intersection of legal strategy, business partnership, and process innovation? At LEO Pharma, we're looking for a forward-thinking legal leader who can transform complexity into clarity and guide our U.S. affiliate toward efficient, compliant, and scalable contracting excellence.

Your Role:

As our Associate Director, Legal & Compliance, you will serve as a trusted advisor and strategic business partner-leading the endtoend contract lifecycle and elevating how we manage legal risk, compliance, and operational efficiency. You will combine hands-on commercial contracting expertise with high-level strategic guidance to support our U.S. business while aligning with global standards.

This is a hybrid role, based out of LEO's Madison, NJ office.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Leading the review, drafting, negotiation, and interpretation of diverse commercial and noncommercial agreements.

  • Serving as a strategic advisor, identifying legal, compliance, and business risks and delivering practical, businessoriented solutions.

  • Partnering with Procurement, Finance, Commercial, Medical, and other teams on vendor selection, due diligence, and contract structuring.

  • Negotiating directly with counterparties to balance legal protection, commercial objectives, and operational feasibility.

  • Driving continuous improvement of templates, playbooks, guidance, and workflows to enhance efficiency and consistency.

  • Simplifying and optimizing the endtoend contracting process through redesign, stakeholder education, and tool utilization.

  • Providing training and educational programs on contracting, compliance expectations, and legal risk awareness.

  • Supporting policy and internal control development, legal research, and analysis on contractrelated and regulatory issues.

  • Assisting with disputes and litigation, including coordination with internal and external counsel.

  • Collaborating with Global Legal & Compliance to ensure alignment, share best practices, and support U.S.involving contracts globally.

Your Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD).

  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device industry.

  • Strong experience drafting and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts.

  • Solid understanding of U.S. healthcare laws and compliance frameworks, including Anti-Kickback Statute, PhRMA Code, and related regulations.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a business partner and align legal advice with commercial objectives

  • Strong organizational and project management capabilities with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Proficiency in legal research tools and standard business software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Adobe)

  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally, as required.

Your New Team:

You will join a collaborative and solutionsoriented U.S. Legal & Compliance team that partners closely with Commercial, Medical, Procurement, Finance, and global colleagues. Together, we elevate contracting excellence, support strategic business decisions, and ensure LEO Pharma operates with integrity, clarity, and efficiency.

Compensation:

The base salary range for this position is $175,000 - $215,000 per year. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high of the LEO Pharma range for this position. Salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. In addition, some positions may include eligibility to earn commissions/bonus based on company and / or individual performance.
