Job description

The Field CTO, Manufacturing is an industry-facing technical leader who will bridge engineering, process automation, and real-world customer challenges across critical industry, including pharmaceutical, medical device, life sciences, oil and gas, chemical, food, and discreet manufacturing verticals. This individual will act as the trusted technical advisor and innovation leader for IGEL’s largest and most strategic customers, including those in highly regulated production environments. They will help shape IGEL’s product strategy for GxP/regulated manufacturing, drive OT‑friendly solution designs, and collaborate with OEM ecosystem partners (Siemens, Honeywell, Rockwell Automation, FactoryTalk, etc.) to ensure IGEL is the platform of choice for secure industrial endpoints. They will also support global customers such as Roche, Boehringer Ingelheim, Novartis, and other major pharma manufacturers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Customer‑Facing Strategy & Thought Leadership
    1. Serve as the senior technical executive and advisor for strategic customers
    2. Translate customer goals (e.g., IT/OT convergence, cyber resilience, regulatory compliance, Zero Trust initiatives) into meaningful solution architectures
  • Industry Architecture Leadership
    1. Develop validated architectures for manufacturing and automation environments
    2. Architect secure end‑to‑end solutions using the IGEL stack (UMS, Application Portal, IGEL OS) integrated with OEM and ISV partners
  • Ecosystem & OEM Integration
    1. Influence joint roadmaps to ensure IGEL endpoints support the latest industrial workloads and security models
    2. Influence product direction and ecosystem partnerships
    3. Support PoCs and pilot deployments within GxP or regulated environments; ensure alignment with 21 CFR Part 11 / Annex 11 expectations
  • Product Feedback & Innovation
    1. Act as the “voice of the customer” for IGEL engineering and product teams—informing features, compliance needs, and automation‑related requirements
    2. Identify gaps, propose enhancements, and work cross‑functionally to refine IGEL’s Life Sciences & Manufacturing solutions
    3. Contribute to reference architectures, whitepapers, and validated design guides for regulated manufacturing environments
  • Cybersecurity & Compliance Leadership
    1. Guide customers on securing the industrial edge using:
      • Zero Trust principles
      • Least privilege access
      • Endpoint attestation
      • Secure supply chain requirements
    2. Partner with customer cybersecurity teams to demonstrate risk reduction and operational resilience
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 8–12+ years in industrial automation, process engineering, or manufacturing IT/OT within pharma, biotech, food, or medical devices
  • Strong knowledge of HMI/SCADA, MES, historians, and industrial software ecosystems
  • Strong network within pharma, biotech, food production, or industrial automation ecosystems
  • Understanding of GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, Annex 11, and regulated manufacturing validation processes
  • Experience supporting or integrating with OEM platforms (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell FactoryTalk, Honeywell) across IT and OT networks
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity standards (Zero Trust, NIST 800‑82, ISA/IEC 62443)
  • Strong knowledge of edge compute and OT network architectures
  • Executive‑level communication skills and comfort presenting to senior technical and business stakeholders
  • Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for non‑technical stakeholders
  • Strong customer orientation with experience in advisory, pre‑sales engineering, or field CTO roles
  • Ability to travel
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with IGEL, thin/secure OS, or endpoint management platforms and designing endpoint solutions
  • Background in solution architecture for regulated industries or industrial control systems
  • Existing network among pharmaceutical OT/automation leaders at companies like Roche, Boehringer Ingelheim, Novartis, or J&J
  • Involvement in industry groups, such as ISPE, BioPhorum, or ISA
  • Engineering or technical degree (mechanical, electrical, automation, computer science, or related)
