Strategic Account Executive

Job description

Strategic Account Executive – Boeing Global Business

Location: Alexandria, VA (preferred), Seattle, WA, or St Louis, MO (Hybrid)

Must be a US citizen with an active Federal clearance or the ability to obtain one

Target Domain: Defense, Commercial Air, Space & Security, Autonomous Systems, and Advanced Manufacturing

@Orchard is seeking a Strategic Account Executive for a major client that has developed technology that solves the fundamental digital infrastructure problems that hold organizations back. Our client eliminates the need for expensive, multi-year "rip-and-replace" efforts or fragile, custom-integrated solutions. They provide the only platform designed to unify edge computing, trusted AI, zero-trust cybersecurity, and resilient networking into a single, deployable environment. Our client is not another systems integrator, consulting firm, or point-solution vendor selling private 5G, cloud, edge AI, or communications. Put simply, they solve digital infrastructure problems differently.

As the Strategic Account Executive for Boeing, you will own our client's #1 account globally. An account where proven use-cases already exist, and the client is already committed to the growth and success of the mission. This is not about selling a vertical solution or pitching a product set. Your job is to diagnose Boeing's systemic infrastructure bottlenecks and partner with executives across all business units to solve them using our client’s unique platform.

Boeing operates at the outer limit of operational complexity and frequently encounters digital infrastructure roadblocks:

  • Operational Technology (OT) networks that are isolated from IT environments.
  • Modernization initiatives stalled in complex, multi-vendor integration.
  • Mission-critical software and AI applications that cannot execute at the tactical edge due to degraded, contested, or legacy networking environments.

By meeting these challenges head-on with credibility and understanding, you will integrate our client into every aspect of the Boeing mission. This is Solutions Selling at the highest level – you will need to have a technical depth of knowledge across hardware, software, communications, and cybersecurity to diagnose issues and opportunities at the enterprise level and then articulate those issues to the client’s engineering and solutions team, to bring the solution back to the customer.

Key Responsibilities

1. Executive Engagement & Account Leadership

  • Serve as the one client voice to Boeing, building trusted-advisor relationships across all Boeing divisions. Partner with executive leaders, VP-level Engineering and Operations leads, Program Managers, and Enterprise IT/OT Architects across the company.
  • Map Boeing’s top strategic initiatives (e.g., Factory of the Future, CJADC2 alignment, Agile Combat Employment, flightline digitizing, autonomous platforms) directly to our client’s value proposition.
  • Navigate Boeing’s complex procurement, vendor, and program execution structures with agility.

2. Value-Based Solution Discovery & Commercial Ownership

  • Execute the core sales methodology: identify the operational problem, isolate the underlying infrastructure failure, establish the business outcome, and lead the commercial path.
  • Frame customer needs through our client’s Three Core Situations:
    1. Unresolved Infrastructure Problems: Unlocking environments where legacy tech, vendors, and custom integration have failed to produce required outcomes.
    2. Accelerated Capability Deployment: Enabling rapid deployment of new AI, sensor, or command capabilities without long integration cycles.
    3. Resilient Coexistence: Positioning our client as an independent, secure, and surviving infrastructure layer operating seamlessly alongside primary networks.

3. Cross-Functional Leadership & Orchestration

  • Lead the cross-departmental engagement lifecycle:
    • Solution Engineering: Co-design tailored service configurations (Access, Device Anchors, Extenders, Control).
    • Proof of Concept (PoC): Oversee targeted, outcome-driven validations that prove technical and operational value fast.
    • Customer Success & Field Operations: Partner with FSRs and Account Management to drive post-onboarding expansion and land-and-expand revenue strategies.
  • Act as the key "Voice of Boeing" internally, feeding intelligence to Product, Marketing, and Leadership to continually refine GTM strategy and product roadmaps.

Qualifications & Candidate Profile

Industry & Domain Expertise

  • 10+ years of enterprise/defense solution sales experience with a proven track record of managing and expanding multi-million-dollar accounts within Boeing (preferably), or major Aerospace & Defense (A&D) Prime Contractors (e.g., Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon).
  • Deep structural understanding of Boeing’s business units (BDS, BCA, BGS, Phantom Works), key leaders, and how technology moves from advanced R&D to programs of record.
  • Conversant in modern A&D operational challenges: OT/IT convergence, Edge Computing, Tactical C4ISR, JADC2, Modern Flightline Operations, and Supply Chain Digitization.

Technical & Narrative Credibility

  • High technical fluency: Able to credibly lead high-level architectural discussions surrounding edge computing, private wireless (5G/LTE), mesh networking, cybersecurity, and edge AI deployment.
  • Develop fluency in positioning our client as a ground-up platform differentiator—not a consultancy or systems integrator.
  • Master the narrative of how operates alongside existing investments, avoiding the “rip and replace” nightmare.

Professional & Leadership Mindset

  • Consultative Challenger: Comfortable pushing back on entrenched IT/OT assumptions, asking deep diagnostic questions, and leading clients to see their infrastructure challenges in a new light.
  • Solution selling: Able to diagnose challenges, apply client capabilities to building a rapid, easily deployable solution to solve the most pressing challenges of the client. Identify, Penetrate, Deliver, Radiate.

Education and Background.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or Business Administration, or related.      Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Previous experience with Boeing technology through civilian or military service is preferred.
  • Active clearance preferred - must be eligible for a clearance (US citizen).

Why Join our client?

  • Category-Defining Technology: Sell a platform that solves fundamental digital infrastructure problems rather than competing in crowded feature-for-feature point-solution battles.
  • Impact: Help shape the future of mission-critical defense, manufacturing, and operational technology for one of the largest aerospace companies in the world.
  • Direct Executive Visibility: You will directly own our highest-profile, highest-value strategic account.

Compensation: Will be based on experience and qualifications, with an anticipated 70/30 split between the base salary and commission, but with no commission ceiling. The expected OTE for the role is around $300K. Our client offers competitive benefits, and this role will qualify for LTI.
