Description
The University of Texas at Austin's Hildebrand Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering (UT PGE) is a world leader in petroleum engineering research, education, training, and outreach. We seek applicants to fill a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor and may also consider outstanding applicants for associate or full professor. A successful candidate will be expected to create undergraduate and graduate learning environments that address the needs of students from a variety of backgrounds, with differing learning styles and abilities, develop externally sponsored research programs, collaborate with faculty from a wide range of backgrounds, and be involved in service to the university and the engineering profession.
We look for candidates who can bring new complementary ideas and skills to our research program and are interested in engaging key stakeholders in the industry and government. UT PGE's faculty and students work and study using state-of-the-art equipment and expanding laboratory and instructional space. Interdisciplinary work is promoted and rewarded in collaboration with other departments of the Cockrell School of Engineering, the top-ranked Jackson School of Geosciences as well as other related colleges and organizations. UT's reputation, accomplishments, and continued top ranking in undergraduate and graduate education by US News and World Report make it one of the most attractive centers of research investment for industry, foundations, and governmental agencies.
Qualifications
A Ph.D. in petroleum engineering or a related discipline is required.
We are interested in candidates who specialize in areas that enable a sustainable, affordable, and secure energy supply. We are especially interested in candidates who will conduct research in the areas of improved hydrocarbon recovery, unconventional reservoirs, deep-water, numerical reservoir simulation, reservoir stimulation and produced water management.

Interested applicants should submit a cover letter, current curriculum vitae, a statement of research interests (limit: 3 pages), a statement of teaching philosophy and experience (limit: 2 pages), a mentoring statement (limit: 1 page), and the names, and contact information of at least three people who will submit original letters of reference.
