Job description

Overview

Entry‑level Petroleum Engineer position within Chevron’s upstream operations. The role includes assignment to production and reservoir engineering positions and projects that contribute value to Chevron. The engineer will be mentored by a supervisor and a technical mentor, and may work either in the field or in an office.

Responsibilities

Assign to production and reservoir engineering tasks, including asset development planning, production operations, reserves assessment, uncertainty and risk management, and capital project development. Provide technical support on various projects related to production or reservoir engineering. Participate in training and competency‑based employee development program with two to three technical assignments in the first five years.

Location

Primary location: Houston, Texas.
Other possible locations: Covington, Louisiana; Midland, Texas.

Compensation and Benefits

Anticipated salary range: $118,000 – $138,000 annually, adjusted for degree level and discipline. Benefits include health care coverage, retirement plan, variable pay, training and development opportunities, and various allowances. More details are available at http://hr2.chevron.com/.

Qualifications
  • Students completing the last year of a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering, chemical engineering, or related disciplines with less than two years of directly related work experience.
  • Students completing the last year of a Master’s or Doctorate program, or with less than two years of post‑graduate experience in petroleum engineering, chemical engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Strong academic performance in core programs.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, teamwork, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience in research, technology development, consulting, or an integrated oil or international service company internship program.
  • Participation in an industry or energy company university research project.
  • Ability to drive on a routine basis.
  • For positions in the Chevron Subsurface Center of Excellence: relevant research or consulting experience and ability to contribute to advanced technology development.
