A personal injury legal assistant provides administrative support for lawyers handling personal injury cases. Your responsibilities include clerical tasks such as client communication, scheduling, and billing. Other duties involve performing research for case briefs, preparing additional documentation for trials, and assisting in preliminary investigations by collating evidence and affidavits. You typically use proprietary legal and electronic discovery software as part of your job, and you organize exhibits and other items to present in court. You most likely work for attorneys in a personal injury practice, but other opportunities exist within government and insurance companies.

What does a personal injury legal assistant do?

A Personal Injury Legal Assistant supports attorneys who handle personal injury cases, such as car accidents, slips and falls, or workplace injuries. Their duties include preparing legal documents, organizing case files, communicating with clients, gathering medical records, and scheduling appointments. They play a crucial role in ensuring cases move smoothly from intake to resolution by managing paperwork, deadlines, and correspondence. Personal Injury Legal Assistants help attorneys stay organized and efficient, making them an integral part of a legal team.

These skills ensure timely case progression, accurate legal documentation, and strong support for the legal team, which are critical for successful case outcomes.
