Job Title: Graduate Assistant for Club Women's Tennis (Part-time)
Reporting Relationship: Head Tennis Coach
Unit: IWU-Marion
Department: Intercollegiate Athletics-IWU Marion
Campus Location: Recreation & Wellness Center, Marion, IN
Summary of Position: A graduate assistant coach both leads a club team and serves as an assistant coach for an IWU varsity sport team (or provides similar work to the athletic department).
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Club Sport (Primary):
    • Serve as head coach for the designated club sport under the mentorship of the varsity head coach (parallel sports) and Director of Club Sports (all club sports)
    • Provide instruction, leadership, and development of student-athletes in practices and competitions
    • Lead recruiting efforts for future club student-athletes
    • Maintain regular communication with the Assistant Director of Athletics for Recreation & Enrollment
    • Manage program records, scheduling, and administrative duties including program budgeting
    • Attend required club sports and department meetings
    • Provide spiritual leadership to and discipleship opportunities for members of the club team
  • Varsity Sport:
    • Assist the varsity head coach with daily operations as schedule permits
    • Ensure compliance with NAIA, institutional, and governing body rules and ethical standards
    • Support student-athlete eligibility, development, and retention through graduation
  • Athletic Department:
    • Complete additional duties as assigned by Athletic Department leadership

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Current enrollment in a graduate program

Experience
  • Competitive playing and/or youth coaching experience
  • Certifications: Sport-specific certifications

Required Skills
  • Demonstrated Christian faith and commitment to IWU's mission and values
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with NAIA, institutional, and legal standards (HIPAA, FERPA, etc.)
