***Candidates must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent basis. StaffRight Associates and our clients do not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
The Opportunity:
StaffRight Associates is seeking a visionary Senior Electrical Engineer specializing in FPGA development to spearhead the creation of next-generation electronic safety and arming mechanisms for cutting-edge defense applications. In this high-impact role, you will innovate state-of-the-art fuzing solutions within a dynamic, accelerated environment.
Operating on a compressed 4/10 work schedule (four 10-hour days per week), you will directly influence the architectural trajectory of crucial aerospace and defense technologies, transforming sophisticated sensor data and secure sequence verification into highly reliable hardware realities.
What You’ll Do:
- Architect and implement advanced FPGA logic designs utilizing Verilog HDL, specifically targeting specialized antifuse and flash-based programmable architectures.
- Drive the end-to-end development life cycle of embedded firmware and microcontrollers, incorporating robust sensor integration, data conversion (A/D and D/A), and secure communication protocols.
- Champion advanced verification methodologies by leveraging SystemVerilog UVM and simulation platforms to guarantee absolute system fidelity and zero-defect deployments.
- Synthesize functional requirements into concrete technical architectures, creating intricate state machines, optimized timer chains, and high-performance algorithms.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex hardware-firmware interactions using sophisticated laboratory instrumentation to profile performance and resolve anomalies rapidly.
- Cultivate continuous engineering process improvements that elevate hardware reliability, streamline code reviews, and accelerate time-to-market.
- Engineer customized C# desktop or system-level applications to interface seamlessly with flash-based microcontroller units.
What You Bring:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree paired with at least 6 years of relevant engineering experience, a Master’s degree with 4+ years of expertise, or a minimum of 10 years of deep technical experience in lieu of a formal degree.
- Core Technical Expertise: Profound command of digital design principles, logic synthesis, and HDL modeling (Verilog/VHDL).
- Embedded Programming: Proven capability writing highly optimized, low-level C code for embedded systems, with a mastery of data structures and algorithmic efficiency.
- Laboratory Acumen: Hands-on mastery of diagnostic hardware tools, including logic analyzers, digital oscilloscopes, JTAG/ICE debuggers, and protocol analyzers.
- Modern Methodology: Familiarity with rigorous validation frameworks, agile prototyping, unit testing, and version control repositories such as GIT, SVN, or TFS.
- Desired Enhancements: Prior exposure to SystemVerilog verification frameworks (UVM, OVM, or VMM) and C# software development is highly advantageous.
- Professional Attributes: Exceptional organizational skills, fluent communication, and the agility to adapt swiftly to evolving project priorities.
- Citizenship & Clearance: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship (security clearance is not immediately required but may be beneficial).
