What is a permanent position?

Permanent positions are jobs offered by employers with no predetermined end date, meaning the employment is ongoing until either the employee or employer decides to end it. These roles typically offer greater job security, benefits such as health insurance and retirement plans, and opportunities for career advancement within the company. Permanent employees are usually considered a long-term investment by employers and are often eligible for company perks and professional development programs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a permanent position, and why are they important?

To thrive in a permanent position, you typically need relevant educational qualifications and work experience specific to the field, along with a solid understanding of the role's core responsibilities. Familiarity with industry-standard tools, software, or certifications—such as Microsoft Office for administrative roles or specialized platforms for technical positions—is often expected. Strong soft skills like adaptability, communication, and teamwork help professionals integrate into the organization and contribute effectively. These skills and qualities are crucial for long-term success, job stability, and ongoing career development within the company.

What are the long-term career growth opportunities for employees in a permanent position?

Permanent positions often provide a stable foundation for career development, as employees can take advantage of ongoing training, mentorship, and internal mobility within the organization. Many companies encourage growth by offering pathways to promotions, participation in special projects, and leadership development programs. Because permanent employees are usually more integrated into the company's culture and long-term planning, they may have more opportunities for advancement and involvement in strategic decision-making compared to temporary or contract staff.

What is the difference between Permanent Position vs Contract Position?

If you have an eye (and an ear!) for details, an interest in art and design, and love interacting with people, we’d love to hear from you.

This is a permanent position (not seasonal or temporary), which will grow into a Core role over the next 3-6 months. Our Core Crew are long-term employees who contribute to our collective growth and future success through their unique strengths and skill-sets.

Ability to operate with a growth mindset, embrace flexibility, exercise creative thinking, and demonstrate adaptability are essential for success on our team. Taking initiative, being self-motivated, dependable, and trustworthy are important too :)

Soft skills are at the heart of this position. Your positive attitude, clear communication skills, and willingness to receive + apply feedback are the most important assets we're searching for. Experience working in a high touch, customer facing role is preferred though not required.

You should be equally comfortable working independently and with the group.

All regular, permanent employees are enrolled in our PTO program, and receive a discount at both of our shops. Medical, dental, and vision benefits are available to Core crew members.

  • Actively reviews interactions and practices with the goal of constantly improving interpersonal and sales skills
  • Avoids personal business while at work and keeps personal conversations at a minimum; especially when customers are present
  • Assists with in-house projects as needed (may include web updates, socials, blogs, assisting with our house lines, etc)

Maintain Store Appearance + Support Daily Operations

  • Receives product, performs quality control checks and displays items on the floor
  • Is familiar with merchandising standards, keeps displays fresh and updates them as appropriate
  • Works with team members to complete focus projects each day

Company Description

Our crew runs CITRINE and FACET in Gilman Village, and all team members can expect to work in both shops. Though each store has it's own personality and product mix, the underlying foundation is the same - thoughtfully designed goods for you, your home and your favorite people, with a special focus on independent designers and makers worldwide.
