A Permanent Paraprofessional is a staff member in a school who provides instructional support to teachers and students on an ongoing basis. They assist with classroom management, help implement lesson plans, and may work one-on-one with students who need extra support. Unlike substitute or temporary paraprofessionals, permanent paraprofessionals hold a consistent position in a particular school or classroom. Their presence helps ensure continuity and stability for both teachers and students. They play an important role in supporting inclusive education and meeting diverse student needs.

How does a permanent paraprofessional typically collaborate with teachers and other staff in supporting students?

Permanent Paraprofessionals work closely with classroom teachers by assisting in lesson implementation, managing small group activities, and providing individualized support to students with diverse needs. They often communicate regularly with teachers to discuss student progress and adapt instructional strategies. What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a permanent paraprofessional, and why are they important?
