Job description

CTG is seeking an experienced DB2 Systems Programmer to support and maintain IBM Db2 for z/OS environments within a large-scale enterprise infrastructure. This role is responsible for Db2 installation, configuration, subsystem performance tuning, disaster recovery readiness, security, and overall database platform stability supporting mission-critical business applications.

Location: Phoenix, AZ metro area; hybrid working model
Duration: 6 months with option to convert after 6 months
Citizenship Requirements: U.S. Citizens, Permanent Residents, and other EAD holders only (no visa-dependent candidates)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain IBM Db2 for z/OS environments
  • Perform subsystem administration, maintenance, and performance tuning
  • Support high availability, resiliency, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery initiatives
  • Manage SMP/E maintenance, patches, fixes, and version upgrades
  • Monitor and optimize Db2 performance, storage utilization, buffer pools, and workloads
  • Troubleshoot complex Db2 subsystem, connectivity, and production issues
  • Support DDF, distributed connectivity, replication, and database utilities
  • Develop automation and operational scripting using JCL, REXX, SQL, or shell scripting
  • Collaborate with DBAs, z/OS systems programmers, infrastructure teams, and developers
  • Participate in production support and on-call rotations

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of DB2 Systems Programming experience
  • Strong expertise with IBM Db2 for z/OS administration and support
  • Experience with Db2 performance tuning and subsystem optimization
  • Hands-on experience with SMP/E maintenance and upgrades
  • Strong knowledge of z/OS mainframe environments
  • Experience with backup/recovery, disaster recovery, and high availability solutions
  • Familiarity with RACF, security controls, and compliance requirements
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Background:

  • Experience supporting enterprise-level, mission-critical database environments
  • Prior experience in regulated industries such as banking, insurance, healthcare, government, retail, or technology

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Equivalent experience will be considered
