Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Forge Engineer to provide technical leadership and support in improving forging process capability, tooling, and part quality. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in forging operations and demonstrate a strong understanding of process optimization, tooling design, and inspection systems. This position is essential to achieving safety, quality, throughput, cost reduction, and continuous improvement goals within our forging operations

Key Responsibilities:
Process & Production Support:

  • Provide advanced technical support for forge and inspection operations.
  • Lead development and implementation of forging processes and inspection methods.
  • Drive improvements in forge parts quality, productivity, and design yield.
  • Develop and revise work instructions, control plans, and PFMEAs.

Tooling & Equipment:

  • Improve tool life and reduce cost related to tooling (T/F arm, T/F fingers, bolster parts).
  • Collaborate with die shop, maintenance, and quality teams for engineering improvements.
  • Support tooling and equipment upgrades for better efficiency and reliability.

Quality & Cost Optimization:

  • Analyze forge line feedback to identify root causes and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Support countermeasure development for quality and cost improvements, including machining optimization at customer lines.
  • Observe and evaluate crankshaft machining conditions and provide solutions.

Documentation & Compliance:

  • Maintain accurate process documentation including work instructions and technical documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to safety and compliance standards across all forge operations.

Team Collaboration & Communication:

  • Participate in cross-functional team discussions to align process and quality improvements.
  • Provide on-call support during nights, holidays, or trials as needed.
  • Proactively identify and address unsafe behaviors and process risks.
    Qualifications:
    Education: Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or forging environment (required).
  • Hands-on knowledge of tool and die methods (required).

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (NX, CATIA).
  • Strong understanding of forging operations, inspection tools, and equipment.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Soft Skills:

  • Strong decision-making and communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage projects independently from concept to completion.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours based on operational needs.
