National Grid is hiring a Reporting Analyst for ourย Upstate NY Customer Energy Integration team. This is a Hybrid role with a requirement of one day in office per week and can be based in Albany NY, Utica NY, or Syracuse NY locations.ย ย

Job Purpose

We are seeking a Process and Performance Reporting Analyst to support the Connections & Strategic Accounts teams in New York. In this role, you will collect, clean, and analyze data to build dashboards and reports that improve processes and enable data-driven decisions. You will monitor KPIs, ensure data integrity, automate reporting, and present insights to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Translate raw data into actionable insights through clear reporting and visualization.
  • Troubleshoot data discrepancies andย improve data quality across sources.
  • Automate recurring reporting and support continuous process improvement.
Key Accountabilities
Reporting & KPI Performance
  • Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly dashboards and reports.
  • Track KPIs to measure performance against goals, and monitor post-implementation outcomes to refine solutions.
  • Present findings, analysis, and recommendations to management and cross-functional teams.
Data Analysis & Data Quality
  • Collect, clean, and analyze data to identify trends, variances, and actionable insights while maintaining high data accuracy.
  • Extract, query, and manipulate large datasets from multiple sources; analyze connection application, operational, performance, and billing trends.
  • Troubleshoot records, data fields, and metadata to identify interface, automation, and user errors; improve legacy data by resolving anomalies and missing values (using automation where feasible).
Process Automation & Improvement
  • Automate manual reports and recurring tasks to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
  • Lead automation initiatives (e.g., translating legacy processes into Python scripts, building bots for routine work, and supporting AI-enabled workflow improvements where appropriate).
  • Develop and maintain documentation and training materials; partner with IT/Architecture on interface and dataflow strategy to ensure business needs are met.
Collaboration & Business Context
  • Build a strong understanding of key business processes, customer needs, and utility regulations to ensure enhancements improve (and do not compromise) the customer experience.
  • Collaborate with leaders, subject matter experts, customers, and teammates to improve performance, user experience, and data accuracy; support ad hoc process improvement and IT enhancement work.
  • Perform routine administrative tasks to maintain appropriate user access/permissions and a positive user experience; participate in project teams as needed to support leadership and regulator requests; complete other duties as assigned.
  • Develop awareness of macro trends in the renewable energy space.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Management, Finance, or a related field
  • 3+ years of reporting analyst experience (or data-driven visual management experience)
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze large datasets
Preferred:
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Exposure to one or more of the following: finance, engineering, computer science/programming, data science, data visualization, machine learning/AI, UX design, website design, data management, and project management
  • Python familiarity is a plus
Skills
  • Strong analytical skills-use data to diagnose problems, design solutions, and measure outcomes.
  • Ability to write clear, precise process instructions that translate technical concepts for varied audiences.
  • Self-directed and proactive; able to learn quickly and communicate complex processes across disciplines.
Tools & Technology
  • Required: Excel (formulas and macros), Power BI, and Salesforce.
  • Required: Microsoft 365 (including Copilot).
  • Preferred: SQL and Python; familiarity with Jira (or similar project management tools).

Salary

$75,000 - $88,000 a year
