CTI, Inc. is looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic for our Morenci Inpit Operations in Morenci, AZ!
Hourly: $30.00 - $37.00/hr DOE + additional pay offered for certified welders and/or CDL holder

Day Shift: Monday - Friday: 4:30am - 2:30pm
We are a local transportation company that was established in 1930. We proudly transport materials for the mining and construction industries throughout the Southwest. We have grown to over 350 drivers and have terminal locations throughout Arizona, Utah and New Mexico.
We are seeking a highly skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at FMI Morenci In-Pit Mine. You will primarily be responsible for the repair, service, and maintenance of our equipment onsite and in the field. This could include troubleshooting and repairing diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical equipment, as well as preventative maintenance services. The ideal candidate will establish and promote a safe, accident-free, and healthy work environment while adhering to strict safety protocols, MSHA, and FMCSA regulations.

Diesel Mechanic Requirements:
  • Valid Driver License, Class A Commercial Driver License preferred
  • 2+ Years of Experience with diesel or heavy equipment or a Post-secondary Certificate, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Welding certification preferred.
  • Must have your own set of requisite tools
  • No more than 2 moving violations within the previous 3 years
  • No major violations within the previous 5 years
  • Authorized access to Freeport McMoRan Inc. (FMI)
  • Required to wear a respirator for certain tasks, which also requires that you are clean-shaven daily.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose & repair
  • Tire & service experience
  • Team lead or supervisory experience preferred
  • Successfully pass pre-employment background screening & drug testing

Diesel Mechanic Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times and adhere to all OSHA/EPA requirements
  • Operation of high-level mechanical tools
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electronic and electrical systems including electronically controlled engines, transmission, and fuel systems
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain automatic and standard transmissions in conjunction with power take-off units, clutches, drivelines, differential assemblies, and final drive units
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical and hydraulic systems; perform wheel alignments
  • Diagnose, repair, and rebuild complete hydraulic systems including hydraulic cylinders, motors, pumps, valves lines, and related components
  • Repair cooling systems, perform radiator repair, replacement of cooling system components, water pumps, shutters, and hoses
  • Conduct diagnostic testing and repair on computers, batteries, alternators, starters, relay switches, solenoids, regulators, wiring harnesses, and other related electrical components
  • Attach test instruments to equipment; read dials and gauges to diagnose malfunctions
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges
  • Work on tractor components including, but not limited to, engines, transmissions, starters, generators, alternators, and other miscellaneous components
  • Diagnose and perform mechanical trailer repairs on a wide variety of trailers, such as pneumatic, live bottoms, belly dumps, flatbeds, and tanker trailers
  • Diagnose and perform mechanical repairs on a wide variety of company equipment
  • Inspect equipment for structural integrity and other potential safety and maintenance problems
  • Inspect, diagnose, disassemble, clean, remove, and replace defective parts; reassemble, install, and adjust to specified performance standards
  • Obtain parts from stock as needed
  • Input data into a maintenance software program
  • Assist with service calls 1 weekend a month
  • Operate maintenance pick-up truck, forklift, and other company equipment
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required and must be worn as directed
  • Maintain contact with the manager to advise of problems or concerns
  • Ability to communicate information in verbal and written form and the ability to listen to and understand information and directions.
  • Add, subtract, multiply and divide in whole numbers
  • Work overtime, on-call, and weekends when needed
  • Assist with general maintenance, clean-up, and other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • This position requires the ability to lift, carry, pull, push and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • This position requires the ability to frequently stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, reach with arms and hands, grip, speak, hear, see, climb and/or balance, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, squat or crawl, use legs, and feet. This position requires constant climbing of stairs and/or ladders, working at elevations of 14 feet above the ground, and bending over.
  • This position is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, toxic and/or caustic chemicals or substances, extreme weather conditions, vibration, and equipment under pressure.
  • The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places and risks of electrical shock. The noise level is usually very loud.
