Performance Optimization Manager information

What does a performance optimization manager do?

A Performance Optimization Manager is responsible for analyzing business processes and systems to identify areas where efficiency, productivity, and overall performance can be improved. They develop and implement strategies, use data-driven insights, and collaborate with various departments to streamline operations. Their goal is to maximize the organization's effectiveness, reduce costs, and enhance results, often through process redesign, technology integration, and ongoing performance monitoring.

How does a performance optimization manager typically collaborate with other departments to drive improvements?

Performance Optimization Managers often work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, operations, product development, and IT. They gather data from various sources, analyze performance metrics, and facilitate workshops or meetings to identify bottlenecks and propose actionable solutions. Effective collaboration requires strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex analytical findings into clear recommendations that align with organizational goals. This collaborative approach ensures that optimization strategies are practical, well-supported, and have a measurable impact across the business.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a performance optimization manager, and why are they important?

  • Strengthen governance and compliance: Establish and maintain governance frameworks for pricing, power procurement, commercial decision-making, price change approvals, audit trails, discounts, rebates, and special terms.
  • Manage risk: Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial, regulatory, and operational risks within the role's functional scope.

What you will need to be successful

  • Experience with python or equivalent.

  • Demonstrated ability to use data analytics tools, pricing software, and financial modeling techniques to evaluate scenarios and make actionable recommendations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business, Finance, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field; an advanced degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Experience in the US energy market, mobility, SaaS, high-growth technology, EV charging, distributed energy resources, utilities, or adjacent sectors is preferred.
  • Experience working cross-functionally across commercial, operations, product, engineering, finance, and analytics teams.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex pricing, power, and commercial concepts into clear recommendations for senior collaborators.
  • Experience delivering commercial transformation in fast-paced, ambiguous, and analytically complex environments.
Familiarity with dynamic pricing, subscription pricing, flexibility market participation, power optimization, demand charge management, load forecasting, tariff optimization, and regulatory frameworks is advantageous.
Experience in competitive landscape analysis or multi-market pricing strategy is
    preferred.
