Job description


SUMMARY: The Clinical Data Analyst is responsible for coordinating/supporting adherence to evidence-based guidelines and best practices through retroactive and/or concurrent patient reviews with analysis of findings related to regulatory requirements. He/she, in collaboration with the Department Managers, under the direction and supervision of the Quality Director/Manager, performs medical records review and data analysis using established protocol and age specific criteria for the Quality Management Department. This may include but is not limited to the performance improvement data, medical staff reappointment and peer review data, internal and external data requirements from California Department of Public Health, contracted Health Plans, The Joint Commission and Center of Medicare and Medicaid Services. Duties include abstraction of pertinent information from the medical record based on identified concerns and issues, performing a high volume of accurate data entry as well as updating of the database, ability to compile reports as requested by the medical staff, hospital leadership, clinical departments and/or various committees. He/she coordinates nurse screens, and enters data as appropriate. This position will handle confidential matters.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum Experience: Two (2) years of experience in Quality or Risk Management at an acute care hospital setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of TJC accreditation and patient care evaluation methodology, including criteria development and data analysis techniques preferred.
