Job description

Store Systems Engineer Manager
The Store Systems Engineering Lead oversees a team responsible for the architecture, delivery, and support of large-scale retail store systems, including POS platforms and endpoint environments supporting 9000+ locations and 70,000+ devices. This role is accountable for both technical direction and team performance, ensuring reliable, scalable, and secure store operations.
Primary Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Store Systems Engineers supporting POS and endpoint environments
  • Establish team priorities, manage workload, and ensure effective execution of engineering and operational tasks
  • Provide coaching, performance management, and career development for team members
  • Promote a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement

Technical Strategy & Architecture
  • Own the design and evolution of store systems architecture across POS, endpoint management, and supporting infrastructure
  • Define standards for system configuration, OS imaging, automation, and endpoint management
  • Guide the team in implementing scalable, resilient solutions across distributed retail environments
  • Review and approve technical designs and major changes

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Strong leadership and team management experience
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to prioritize and execute in a fast-paced, large-scale environment
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-moving environment, meeting deadlines.
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent level of demonstrated skills and experience.
  • 5+ years engineering/administration experience with Windows endpoints in both Active Directory and workgroup environments.
  • Expert-level Active Directory/Group Policy experience.
  • Expert-level Windows workstation OS knowledge (32/64-bit, registry, event logs, boot options, certificates, UEFI/BIOS).
  • Expert-level proficiency with scripting in PowerShell and similar tools.
  • Experience creating and maintaining endpoint OS images.
  • Experience remotely managing endpoints.
  • Strong networking understanding (TCP/IP, WAN, proxy/firewall, DNS, DHCP, load balancing).
  • Demonstrated experience using self-learning to solve problems and complete tasks.
  • Creative problem-solving and analytical abilities; ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Self-motivated and directed with attention to detail.
  • Good project management skills.
  • Experience mentoring peers.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Experience with POS/retail environments, or other up-time critical production environments.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration.
  • Experience with Microsoft Remote Desktop Services.
  • Experience with Endpoint Management Tools.
  • Experience working with VMware servers in vSphere.
  • Experience with F5 load balancers.
  • Experience with IOS, Android mobile Operating Systems
  • Experience with MDM solutions, JAMF, SOTI and others

Start Rate = $125,000 to $138,000 based on experience plus 20% bonus and equity.
