Job description

Square Enix is seeking a Director, Performance Optimization to join our team in El Segundo, CA. This person will lead paid media, CRM, and digital analytics initiatives across Square Enix West (SE West). As a critical role for SE West, their work is crucial in determing the profitability and brand success of a title launch across the full cycle (pre-, launch, and post-).
This role is heavily cross-functional and will partner with the Market Develoment, e-store, and Digital Sales teams. The Director will be tasked with leading the planning and development of all media aspects of SE West's go-to-market campaigns and leading post-launch initiatives including identifying opportunities to optimize paid media, customer engagements, digital analytics, brand websites, and e-store activities.
In addition to deep expertise in performance marketing, the ideal candidate will be a strategic and tactical leader who can build a cohesive team across different disciplines within performance optimization.
Requirements
Role, Responsibilities & KPI's
  • Consult with Market Development team, Digital Sales and the e-store group to define, recommend, execute and analyze areas of commercial improvement.
  • Oversee the development of the paid media plan for each release, ensuring the right media vehicle, region, phasing, mix, and audience and developing activation plans for ad-hoc opportunities.
  • Lead the development of a product's functional plan by offering key media strategies and budget breakdowns by territory, channels, and partners.
  • Manage post-launch campaign and reporting by gathering & analyzing data from agencies and optimizing campaign & reallocating budget as needed.
  • Manage the company's digital analytics to optimize the effectiveness of the Final Fantasy XIV and HD games segments.
  • Lead and mentor the CRM team to improve their reach and effectiveness.
  • Provide guidance, feedback, and professional development opportunities to Performance Optimization team.
Qualifications and Skills
  • 6-10 years of experience in performance marketing, preferably in the gaming or entertainment industry.
  • 5+ years managing multi-person teams.
  • Experience in a comms/channel planning role within a media agency, including all portions of the funnel. Offline media experience a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather, interpret, and apply data insights to optimize marketing campaigns.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing tools and platforms such as Google Analytics, AdWords, and social media advertising platforms.
  • Manage brand website and e-store optimization through consistent A/B testing.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams and external agencies.
  • Proficiency in media planning tools and platforms, along with a solid understanding of digital analytics and performance metrics.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, coupled with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing media challenges.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of and experience with digital attribution and user-tracking methods (e.g. pixels, fingerprinting, Google Analytics).
