We're People People. Are you?

We're Sonesta International Hotels-the 8th largest hotel company in the U.S. (and growing fast 🚀).

With a dynamic mix of full-service and focused hotels across major cities, our diverse portfolio of owned, managed, and franchised properties means we're everywhere our guests need us to be.

But here's the thing-we're not just in the business of hotels, we're in the business of people. We bring service with passion, loyalty with purpose, and create experiences that genuinely connect-delivering quality, value, and memorable stays across 1,000+ properties in eight countries (and counting).

What this role is all about

Exceptional guest experiences rely on safe, well-maintained, and fully operational hotels - and our Maintenance Engineers help make that happen behind the scenes every day.
As a Maintenance Engineer, you'll support the overall maintenance and upkeep of the hotel by handling general repairs, preventative maintenance, painting, plumbing, and engineering support across guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas.
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys hands-on problem solving, takes pride in maintaining high standards, and thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
If you're dependable, technically skilled, and passionate about hospitality operations - we'd love to meet you.

What you'll be doing

What you'll be doing

  • Perform general maintenance and repair work across guest rooms, public spaces, back-of-house areas, and hotel facilities.

  • Support preventative maintenance programs for HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, lighting, painting, carpentry, and general building upkeep.

  • Respond to guest maintenance requests and operational repair needs quickly and professionally to support guest satisfaction.

  • Perform painting, patching, touch-up work, minor plumbing repairs, fixture replacements, and routine engineering tasks as needed.

  • Assist with troubleshooting and repairing hotel equipment, appliances, mechanical systems, and operational issues.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization across maintenance shops, storage areas, equipment rooms, and workspaces.

  • Monitor building systems and report safety hazards, maintenance concerns, or operational issues promptly.

  • Follow OSHA regulations, hotel safety procedures, preventative maintenance standards, and operational policies at all times.

  • Support renovation projects, room inspections, and facility improvement initiatives as needed.

  • Partner closely with Housekeeping, Front Office, Food & Beverage, and hotel leadership teams to support smooth hotel operations.

  • Maintain maintenance logs, work orders, and operational documentation accurately.

  • Any other duties as assigned.

What great looks like

  • Previous maintenance, engineering, facilities, hotel maintenance, painting, plumbing, HVAC, or building operations experience preferred.

  • Basic knowledge of general maintenance, plumbing, painting, electrical systems, carpentry, and preventative maintenance procedures.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and complete routine repairs efficiently and safely.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and operational quality.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.

  • Flexible availability including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call support as needed.

  • Technical certifications, trade school training, or hospitality engineering experience preferred.

  • A passion for hospitality, teamwork, operational excellence, and creating safe and welcoming guest experiences.
