Job description

SWJ Technologie specializes in providing engineering, planning, and project management services across various industries. We are currently seeking a Perf Center Porter a client in the automotive industry, specializing in car manufacturing. This role is a contractor position based in Spartanburg, SC that requires on-site presence and occasional working on weekends. PURPOSE:
The Perf Center Porter supports daily vehicle processing and shop operations by safely moving vehicles to and from designated areas, performing basic vehicle cleaning and detailing, and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment. The position also provides general support to technicians and assists with basic shop activities as needed. This is an entry-level position, and additional responsibilities can be learned through on-the-job training.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Retrieve vehicles from designated parking areas and move them safely to the body shop or other designated areas for repair and processing.
  • Move completed vehicles from the shop back to designated parking areas.
  • Safely operate and maneuver vehicles throughout the facility.
  • Wash completed vehicles and prepare them for customer delivery or internal vehicle processing.
  • Vacuum vehicle interiors and wipe down interior surfaces.
  • Perform basic vehicle cleaning and detailing activities.
  • Sweep and mop floors and maintain general cleanliness of the shop area.
  • Operate floor-cleaning equipment as required.
  • Empty trash and properly dispose of cardboard and other waste materials.
  • Retrieve tools, parts, and materials for technicians.
  • Assist technicians with basic shop and vehicle-related tasks when needed.
  • Perform basic headlight alignment when required and after appropriate training.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow established safety procedures and workplace standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of vehicle or automotive-related experience required.
  • Previous automotive detailing experience is beneficial but not required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Clean and acceptable driving record required.
  • Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check is required.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Basic knowledge of proper vehicle cleaning practices.
  • Ability to safely operate and maneuver vehicles.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures, work instructions, and established processes.
  • Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when cleaning and preparing vehicles.
  • Ability to work effectively in an automotive or shop environment.

    • Frequent vehicle operation is an essential function of the position.
    • Must be able to safely operate and maneuver vehicles within parking areas and the facility.
    • Must follow all applicable vehicle safety procedures while operating vehicles.
    • Must be comfortable operating different types of vehicles as required by the position.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Previous experience in automotive detailing, vehicle processing, a dealership, body shop, or automotive service environment.
  • Experience with vehicle washing, vacuuming, and interior cleaning.
  • Basic familiarity with automotive tools, parts, and shop operations.
  • Experience assisting automotive technicians.
  • Experience in preparing vehicles for customer delivery.
  • Experience operating floor-cleaning equipment.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, automotive, or industrial environment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices

FLSA STATUS/WORKING SCHEDULE:
  • Location: Spartanburg, South Carolina
  • Schedule: 40 h/ week, Dayshift:7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
  • Overtime: Occasional overtime may be required based on operational needs.
  • Assignment Start: ASAP
