GEO Academies is a national, non-profit network of open-enrollment, public charter schools committed to empowering students to accelerate their academic pathways, advance their social mobility, and achieve their career and lifelong goals. Our innovative and award-winning K-16 GEO Academies Model begins with personalized, competency-based learning and accelerates students into post-secondary immersion as early as 9th grade. GEO Academies students have the opportunity to earn a full college degree or career credential even before graduating from high school - at no cost to families. 


REPORTS TO/TERM:

Principal

This is a Full-Time 10-month position.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop a comprehensive Award-Winning Arts Program encompassing Grades 5-12 to include, but not limited to, Concert 

  Band, Marching Band, Beginning Band, Orchestra, Drumline, Choir, Jazz, Theater, and Drama

Direct and Organize Plays, Performances, and Concerts.

Create K-12 "Feeder Program" for the Arts fostering excitement, enthusiasm and generating community interest in the Arts.

Lead students to State Band and Vocal Competitions developing confidence and building student self-esteem.

Meet with parents and community to promote programs, generate interest, and display student work and talent.

Teach and actively plan sequentially for concert bands grades 6-12 (6th grade beginning band, 7th grade Intermediate, 8th grade advanced, 9-12 High School Concert Band).

Teach one music history or music theory course to high school students

Other extracurricular activities may include jazz band and pep band, Orchestra performances, Choir performances, 

   Plays/Drama  Nights

Requirements

Requirements:

Must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Music Education from an accredited university

Possess an Indiana Music Teaching License

Knowledge in wind, percussion, and orchestra pedagogy

Knowledge of Marching Band techniques

Knowledge of Orchestra techniques

Knowledge of Choir/Vocal techniques

Knowledge of Theater and Drama techniques

Ability to work with additional staff members and music colleagues

Organized and good communication skill

Apply
