Job description

The Opportunity
The Senior Vice President, IT leads the Information Technology function with responsibility for both the day-to-day execution of technology operations and the strategic direction of how technology enables the organization's mission and long-term growth. In the first 12-18 months, the role will be heavily focused on foundational execution and operational maturity, including stabilizing core systems and services, strengthening infrastructure and processes, and establishing the operating rhythms needed to support a complex multi-site retail, mission services, and e-commerce organization.

The ideal candidate is a pragmatic, systems-oriented technology leader who can connect mission, operations, and technology while building structure and accountability. This individual will bring strong execution discipline, operational credibility, and the ability to build trusted partnerships across executive leadership, retail and operational teams, external vendors, and the Board of Directors. The SVP, IT will serve as a visible advocate for technology while maintaining a strong focus on operational reliability, scalability, and mission impact.

Key focus areas include:

AI/Emerging Technology: Leads the creation and implementation of an AI Strategy, positioning the organization as a thought-leader in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Enterprise Integration & Modernization: The SVP will lead efforts to simplify and standardize enterprise systems, support application consolidation, and help develop a more integrated and scalable technology environment.
Infrastructure & Operational Reliability:  The SVP will assess and strengthen core systems, operational resilience, and infrastructure performance across retail, career center, and enterprise locations.
Cybersecurity & Compliance: The SVP will oversee external partnerships in this space while implementing governance frameworks and best practices that support data integrity, security, and compliance.
Software Development & Business Enablement: With internal developers already supporting custom solutions and integrations, the SVP will bring sufficient technical depth to guide development efforts, evaluate priorities, and align technology investments with long-term organizational needs.
Enterprise Leadership & Change Management: This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong collaboration, communication, and change leadership skills. The SVP will lead a small internal technology team, manage outsourced partners, and serve as a trusted partner and educator across the executive team and broader organization.

Key Responsibilities

Serves as a thought partner to the CEO and executive team, contributing to enterprise-level strategy and digital transformation efforts.

Develops planning and maintenance strategies for the organization's data technology operations, including computer hardware, software, and telecommunications.

Guides IT governance, data security, and compliance, ensuring technology decisions adhere to industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
Leads the creation and implementation of an AI Strategy, positioning the organization as a thought-leader in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Professional Experience / Qualifications
10+ years of IT leadership experience (5+ years for Enterprise Systems Manager), specializing in enterprise architecture, application development, and business systems integration.
Proven leader and strategic thinker with a hands-on approach, skilled in driving organizational change. Servant-leadership mindset, passionate about mentoring and developing a high-performing IT team.
Preferred experience in multi-channel retail, e-commerce, educational technology, or workforce solutions.
Expert at aligning IT strategy with business objectives, managing complex stakeholder relationships.
Strong background in enterprise application consolidation and modernization, with experience migrating from siloed point solutions to integrated platforms.
Proven track record in leading IT transformation initiatives, including vendor selection, implementation, and change management.
Hands-on experience with ERP, CRM, POS, and e-commerce platforms is highly desirable.
Exceptional project management skills, with a history of delivering enterprise-wide initiatives on time and within budget.
