Job description

Do you have experience as Pharmacy Tech or have knowledge related to medications & electronic medical record databases? We have a rewarding position available in the Thompson Health Emergency Department.
Schedule: Per diem, hours will vary but generally, days and evening shifts on weekends. Some holidays.
Pay Range: $19.48-24.00, based on experience.

Responsibilities include:
  • Assisting in the nonprofessional aspects of collecting & inputting pre-hospital medication data into the electronic record.
  • This may be done using various methods and tools including, but not limited to interviewing patients, calling pharmacies, communicating with physician office practices, and electronic medical records/databases.
  • The ED Medication History Technician will facilitate safe and timely admission of patients by entering home medication information into the health information system and communicating with ED staff and admitting providers to allow them the ability to make medication reconciliation decisions upon admission.
  • All medication-associated duties are performed under the supervision of licensed personnel (nurses, pharmacists).

Requirements:
  • High School education required with working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Associate Degree preferred.
  • Skill in daily communication including effectively gathering and disseminating information.
  • Flexibility in decision making and prioritizing assignments.
  • Skill in proactively resolving problems, recommending, and implementing continuous quality improvements.
  • Providing customer service and support in a manner consistent with the health system's goals and expectations.
  • Actively guarding the confidentiality of sensitive info including but not limited to the patients, staff and the health system.
  • Prior history and knowledge of medication nomenclature (ie. pharmacy technician) preferred

Pay Range: $19.48-24.00 plus shift differentials
