Job description

Per diem Radiation Therapist to travel between two locations: Buffalo amp; Niagara.

Essential Job Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:

The following list of duties is not intended to be restrictive or all inclusive. The fact that certain duties may not be listed does not limit the assignment of additional and/or other duties.

  • Verify patient consent is documented
  • Prepare and position patients for simulation and treatment
  • Create and manage simulation and verification images
  • Document procedural timeout
  • Perform daily warm up on all treatment and simulation equipment
  • Safely deliver the treatment as directed and prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist
  • Keep accurate records of the treatment of each patient
  • Observe radiation safety and protection procedures
  • Apply principles of ALARA to minimize exposure to patient, self and others
  • Monitor the patient visually and audibly during treatment
  • Achieves precision patient alignment using imaging and external markings, maintaining patient markings during treatment
  • Review the isodose plan and treatment prescription prior to implementation. Verifies the treatment plan is consistent with the prescription and can be accurately implemented in the treatment room.
  • Collaborates with radiation oncologists, medical physicists and medical dosimetrists to compensate for treatment inaccuracies; and reports deviations from the standard or planned treatment
  • Checks equipment for malfunctions/abnormal quality assurance readings and report any abnormal findings to appropriate personnel (chief radiation therapist, medical physicist, machine engineer).
  • Helps patients to understand the potential side effects of radiation treatment and how to manage any associated side effects.
  • Provides explanation and instruction to patients and family regarding radiation therapy procedures

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $33.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 4 per week

Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday

Experience:

  • Radiation therapy: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • ARRT Certification - New York (Preferred)

Willingness to travel:

  • 50% (Preferred)
