Job description

This is a fulltime maintenance job working 40 hours a week.  There is no per diem and no relocation funding.

I&E Technician

The I&E Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating electrical and instrumentation systems to support safe and reliable plant operations. This position requires working in production and maintenance environments that may require the use of a supplied-air respiratory hood and other required personal protective equipment (PPE

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Install, layout, and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Diagnose electrical and instrumentation failures using testing equipment and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, loop drawings, technical manuals, and work orders.
  • Test, calibrate, install, and inspect instrumentation devices including transmitters, valves, and analytical instruments.
  • Calibrate equipment using standard procedures and specifications.
  • Conduct system inspections and identify reliability improvements.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems using proper test equipment.
  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical control systems including MCCs, transformers, switchgear, bus bars, motors, and panel wiring.
  • Assist with equipment installations, shutdowns, and capital improvement projects.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and work records.
  • Follow all plant safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), electrical safety, and confined space requirements.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in assigned work areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required for this Position:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school training preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant instrumentation and electrical experience required.
  • Strong electrical and instrumentation troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, loop drawings, and technical documents.
  • Experience with hand tools, testing equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Working knowledge of PLC systems.
  • Must pass drug screen and background check as a condition of employment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States; sponsorship is not available.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

  • Must be able to wear a supplied-air hood or respirator for extended periods as required by job tasks or environmental conditions.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, dusty, noisy, or chemical process environments.
  • Ability to lift up to 45 lbs occasionally.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, bend, kneel, and work in confined spaces or elevated areas.
  • Must be medically qualified to wear respiratory protection in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting and control systems.
  • Experience with analytical instrumentation and process controls.
  • Familiarity with CMMS maintenance systems.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial setting.

Must pass drug screen and background check, as condition of employment.
