Job description

We are seeking to fill a GIS Analyst - LIDAR position for DOD SkillBridge Transitioning Service Members within our Geospatial Division in the Huntsville, AL, or West Palm Beach, FL office.

This position will focus on the collection, processing and analysis of data from various remote sensing systems that WGI offers. 

The candidate will be engaged in a career building opportunity while doing precise work, requiring good analytical and reasoning abilities, at a rapid pace of work. Candidate will be directly responsible for ensuring the accuracy and quality of data. The candidate will work in an quality office/field environment, with GIS/CAD systems professionals, and using Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) data.

  • Perform setup, collection, processing and QA of various geospatial sensor derived data (i.e. LiDAR, aerial imagery)
  • Troubleshoot and solve routine LiDAR data processing issues
  • Troubleshoot and solve routine LiDAR collection equipment issues including GNSS systems and IMUs
  • Develop efficient workflows for training new associates
  • Help setup data management strategies to ensure proper infrastructure and data policies are in place to handle active data storage and archiving
  • Have strong knowledge of GIS concepts related to coordinate systems and projections
  • Adhere to safety and information security policy
  • Out of town/state travel will be required; meal per diem and lodging will be provided
  • Duties may require overtime by performing work after normal working hours, late night hours, and weekends as needed
  • Work as a team member as well as independently
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Associates degree required, Bachelors degree referred
  • Must have the desire to learn new software, hardware and methodologies while assisting the Geospatial department to operate at maximum efficiency
  • Most work well with others, be team oriented, helpful and a good problem solver and preferably, experience with DOT specifications and deliverables
  • Ability to understand 3D surface modeling and 3D visualization concepts
