Job description

Participates in the assessment and evaluation of patients with cardiovascular disease, develops treatment plans tailored to the individual needs of the patient, provides individualized education to promote risk factor modification, provides monitoring necessary for the patient's clinical needs, and effectively documents progress.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides physician prescribed exercise and assures adherence to the treatment plan

  • Tailors individualized risk factor modification and lifestyle management education and counseling as it relates to cardiovascular health

  • Provides a psychosocial assessment to assess the patients psychological and emotional well-being

  • Tailors pre and post outcomes assessment and adjusts treatment strategies to evaluate patient progress and improvements in cardiovascular fitness and overall health

  • Establishes the individualized treatment plan and subsequent plans every 30 days and assures the plan is reviewed and signed by a physician within the 30-day period

  • Conducts new patient evaluations which include but not limited to medical history, functional status, short and long-term goals, nutritional assessment, outcomes assessment, and emotional status

  • Provides patient specific education as it applies to cardiovascular disease risk factor modification

  • ECG monitoring and rhythm interpretation

  • Accurately documents patient progress, exercise type, duration, and intensity, vistal signs, modifications to the plan, and adverse events

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to stand for the greater part of 8 hours. Occasional handling, grasping, twisting, and turning while aiding clients and setting up equipment. The possibility of lifting clients weighing up to 300 pounds with assistance. The possibility of pushing clients weighing up to 300 pounds in a wheelchair. Occasional stooping, bending, squatting, crouching, and reaching above shoulder level. Touching as it relates to patient assessment, attaching heart monitors, and auscultation of lungs. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation, BP evaluation, and auscultating lung sounds. Seeing as it relates to general close-up and distant vision. Must be able to use finger dexterity, grasping, and holding as it relates to documentation an assisting with machinery setup.

EDUCATION:

Master's degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, or related field required.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

One-year clinical experience Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation preferred. ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP),or ACSM Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist (RCEP), or AACVPR Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Specialist preferred. American Heart Association BLS Certification required. Proficiency in ECG rhythm recognition required.American Heart Association ACLS Certification preferred.

Day or middle shift with varying hours based on the needs of the department.
