As a per diem, nonexempt Pharmacy Technician, you will assist in various pharmacy activities under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Your responsibilities will include preparing, delivering, and restocking medications; performing order entry; procuring drugs; billing. You will carry out your job duties according to written procedures and guidelines based on pharmacy standards and regulatory requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Prepares and dispenses medications by measuring, counting, labeling and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist
  • Assists pharmacists and healthcare providers by gathering necessary information and supporting workflow efficiency
  • Prepares and compounds medications (including IV admixtures and sterile products) following hospital protocols and USP standards
  • Delivers medications to patient care areas, including automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) and nursing units
  • Maintains medication inventory by restocking, tracking controlled substances, and monitoring expiration dates
  • Supports medication safety initiatives, including double-checks, labeling, and documentation
  • Collaborates with pharmacists, nurses, and clinical staff to ensure timely and safe medication delivery
  • Complies with hospital policies and regulatory standards, including Joint Commission and state/federal regulations
  • Answers phone calls and questions

Location: East Los Angeles Doctors Hospital, Los Angeles, CA
Pharmacy Hours: This centralized pharmacy utilizes Pyxis automation and the Paragon pharmacy system. Pharmacy hours are Monday-Friday from 7:00am-8:00pm and weekends and Holidays from 7:30am-4:00pm.
Schedule: This per diem, nonexempt position can work up to 19 hours/week in a variety of day and evening shifts.
You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current California Pharmacy Technician license in good standing
  • Recent work experience as a Pharmacy Technician, in an acute care hospital setting
  • IV Compounding Experience
  • Proficiency with pharmacy software

Preferred Qualification:
  • PTCB/NHA

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.00 - $29.00 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
