Unlike regular staff pharmacists, per diem pharmacists do not have a set schedule and are often called in to cover shifts, manage increased workload, or fill in during staff absences. Their primary role involves ensuring the accuracy, safety, and quality of compounded medications while adhering to pharmacy regulations and standards.

What are some common challenges faced by Per Diem Compounding Pharmacists, and how can they prepare for them?

Per Diem Compounding Pharmacists often face the challenge of quickly adapting to different pharmacy settings and workflows, as assignments may vary between compounding labs or hospitals. Staying updated on current USP regulations and mastering a wide range of compounding techniques is essential, as each facility may have unique protocols. Preparing by reviewing standard operating procedures before each shift and remaining flexible can help ease transitions and support high-quality care.
