A Pension Fund Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing investment portfolios that fund employee retirement benefits. They analyze market trends, select appropriate investment options, and ensure that the fund's assets are managed to meet future pension obligations. Their goal is to balance risk and return, comply with regulatory requirements, and maximize returns for plan beneficiaries. Pension Fund Managers often work closely with actuaries, financial analysts, and organizational leadership to ensure the fund's long-term sustainability.

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

About Rise
We are a fast-growing and dynamic fintech organisation. As an SEC-licensed Fund/Portfolio Manager, we are driven by a culture of innovation, excellence, and a passion for wealth creation.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly motivated and results-oriented Fund Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing investment strategies, executing investment decisions, and managing the various funds offered to investors in line with the Company's mandate. This role sits at the intersection of investment management, market analysis, and product innovation - and it requires a strong understanding of financial markets and regulatory compliance.

What You'll Do

Portfolio Management & Execution

  • Develop and implement investment strategies for various funds and discretionary portfolios in line with fund objectives, risk appetite, market conditions, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and optimize multi-asset investment portfolios, including equities, fixed income securities, money market instruments, alternative investments, and other approved asset classes.
  • Execute trades and manage portfolio transactions efficiently through approved trading platforms and order management systems while ensuring best execution standards.

Research & Strategy

  • Conduct fundamental, quantitative, macroeconomic and market analysis to identify investment opportunities, support asset allocation decisions, and enhance portfolio performance.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, risk exposures and market developments, making timely investment adjustments to maximize risk-adjusted returns.

Compliance & Stakeholder Management

  • Ensure strict compliance with SEC regulations, investment mandates, internal investment policies, and applicable risk management frameworks.
  • Prepare investment reports, market outlooks, portfolio reviews, and performance presentations for management, regulators, trustees, and investors.
  • Collaborate with business development, product, operations, finance, compliance, and technology teams to support fund growth, product innovation, investor acquisition, and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in the design, launch, and management of new investment products and strategies, including mutual funds, portfolio mandates, structured products, and digital investment offerings.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with investors, counterparties, brokers, research providers, and other market participants to support investment execution, market intelligence, and business growth.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or a related field.
  • Professional qualification such as ICAN/ACCA, CIS, or CFA.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a fund manager.
  • Strong understanding of investment management, portfolio construction, financial markets, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including advanced use of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficiency in the use of investment management systems, trading platforms, portfolio management tools, and order management systems.
  • Excellent knowledge of financial markets and instruments, including equities, fixed income, money market instruments, mutual funds, derivatives, and alternative investments.

You'll Thrive in This Role If You Have

  • SEC Sponsored Individual status (this will be an added advantage).
  • Experience as a fund manager in fintech (this is an added advantage).
  • Familiarity with digital investment platforms, fintech-enabled investment products, and technology-driven fund distribution models.
  • Strong quantitative, financial modelling, data analysis, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Good understanding of SEC regulations, investment compliance requirements, risk management frameworks, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, decision-making, and risk management skills.
  • A strong work ethic, high level of integrity, ethical conduct, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Portfolio Performance: Delivery of optimized risk-adjusted returns and efficient management of multi-asset portfolios.
  • Compliance & Accuracy: Strict alignment with SEC regulations, investment mandates, and timely delivery of reporting.
  • Product & Fund Growth: Successful collaboration on product innovation, fund design, launch, and efficiency metrics.
  • Operational Efficiency: Smooth trade execution, system utilization, and accurate financial modeling/data analysis.

Why Rise?

  • Opportunity to drive meaningful impact across a fast-growing wealth-tech ecosystem.
  • Competitive compensation.
  • Flexible work setup (hybrid out of Lagos) and a supportive, mission-driven culture.
  • Health insurance, time off, pension contributions, and continuous professional development opportunities.
